What's the best cutting mat for craft?

So great to see you back again!!! This was an excellent comparison of the various mats -- I was actually shocked to see that you couldn't cut fabric on the clear mats! Between the white and green mats that will allow fabric cuts: have you tried cutting batting on them? I've found that the green mats tend to grab fibers in the sliced areas, making a real mess if you're doing a lot of cutting. Does the same happen with the white mats?

It's so great to be back! I've only recently started using the mats so I haven't tried them with the batting yet but that's a really good idea. I'll run some trials and let you know 😊

Why not use cardboard or hardboard instead , which is much cheaper and easily available ?

For some crafts that would work I'm sure. My fabric rotary cutter would go straight through cardboard and would be blunt in a heartbeat if I used it on wood 🙂
