My band opened up for Slaughter in New York in early 90's. It was my second time meeting the band. Some years earlier they played a larger venue as an opening act, and the guys, prior to the show, came to the fence which separated the crowd from the back of the stage, and greeted the fans. I had never forgotten how down to earth they were, so when I got the chance to open for them, years later, I was not surprised to see they were the same. After the show, we all (not Mark, he was sick) hung out in the club......

I had the opportunity of my life time and was asked to open up for Slaughter in Port Jeff Long Island. I was so star struck and Mark was talking to me about my amp and the equipment he uses and I was like UHHHH kewl. Really!!! I wish I could go back now and talk to him again. I think about it all the time and I can kick myself!! uuhhgg. Owell anyhow I had a great time and was honored to open up for a band I Igrew up listening to and loved. Mark is sooo down to earth and not stuck up at all. He is an amazing cool guy!

Last time I saw Mark was a benefit to some kids here in Orem, Utah at a college and the after party at the hotel afterwards. I gave him a B.A.C.A Bikers Against Child Abuse sticker for his guitar case that held his half a million dollar guitar. Great guy and very down to earth. Cheers Mark ! Glad you're still hanging and headbanging!

Great interview/conversation. Saw Slaughter open for KISS with Winger in Hamilton, ON for the "Hot in the Shade" tour. I had no idea who they were and within days "Fly to the Angels" was all over the radio.

Great interview Todd! Thanks. I grew up in Kingman and one of Mark's cousins was my best friend back then. I saw Slaughter on that Hot in the Shade tour in Salt Lake. Amazing show. We got backstage of course and followed Mark's bus back to his hotel after the show to clean up and go shoot a video in a club. One of the best nights of my life. Good Times.

Born and raised in Vegas. Went to K O Knudson Junior HS with Mark. I learned guitar under Mark in jazz band. Great memories! Very happy for Mark’s continued success and he’s absolutely correct on his assessment of Vegas. It’s definitely changed and not for the better. Great interview!

Mark is stellar. I was into thrash and death metal by the time Slaughter came out, but the years have been kind to them…especially the later records like Revolution.

I loved the "Revolution" album. It still had the Slaughter sound that I love but it had a cool ass trippy and psychedelic vibe. Good stuff! Wish like hell I could get it on vinyl.

I got to see Slaughter with Warrant and Quiet Riot in 99? I cant even remember, lol. Good show, Slaughter more than held their own. Lookin back, a lot of ending at that show. Kevin from Quiet Riot passes, and Jani from Warrant passed, I believe Tim Kelly had been gone a while at that point, but it seems spooky now. Life is a gift, time is fleeting. I love all music, 80's hard rock was great, I feel bad for people who cant just have fun and need everything to be deep and introspective.

I really liked the interview. All the tonal stuff Mark was talking about makes sense and tempo, pretty important even to me as a non musician. I grew up listening to that whole 80s scene, now I'm hauling my wife and daughter to Slash shows.. well used to. Anyway good stuff TDK.

I'll admit that by the time Slaughter hit the scene my tastes had moved on to more aggressive sounds, and never gave much credit. Mark's music production and history knowledge is very impressive and stands him out from many of his peers. Very cool!

Moby Grape was awesome! Ted Nugent filmed Little Miss Dangerous there. Saw Night Ranger come in and jam with a local band called Nemesis. Krackers was a great one. Saw Robin Trower, Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush and Greg Allman there. Bet neither place exists now. I lived on Eastern and Russell, kitty corner from Redd Foxx when he was alive. Very nice man too.
