I would like a serious answer to this question. Little Children was masterful. I'm surprised it's been this long.

Ok apparently he's been having a hard time getting projects greenlit during all these years. He said something along the lines of choosing difficult projects to greenlight.

what does cate mean by "process film"?
@Carboxylated
@Carboxylated Жыл бұрын
heavy heavy pre-production in steps and pieces and sometimes these types of films take years to make thus everything is meticulous without deadlines or time constraints. The score is settled before post production, the color of the film, the tone, the way the actors form their character (sometimes many many months even years), getting the funding, making sure logistical things are locked in and solid versus rushing with deadlines and making due with what you have...process films have more freedom and leway but there is a heavy caveat and many cons to making a movie this way...but if done right...the pros out way the cons and you can make something to the likes of lightning in a bottle. It is very RISKY filmmaking and only the greats can achieve "Process Filmmaking".

She means the film doesn't display artists performing their masterworks; there's no scene where we're allowed to see the grand result of all their talent and effort. The focus is on characters in motion, only showing the moments when they're learning the score, practicing their parts, and crafting the experience the audience in the story is there to witness. We understand them through their process, the vulnerable stage between chaos and order, seeing their identity color the creative exercise. Many mediocre films about artists seek to glorify the products our culture worships with very little care for the labors which birthed them. Tár is a film which honors the process over the product.

This movie was so swollen with utter boredom, it was grossly destended, a seeping fetid, foul, putrid dead soporific mess. The word boredom is more interesting then this movie.
