I'm glad RH and SH both refused to get these characters together romantically. Although, I was captivated by RH's portrayal of Todd and always watched when he was on, their weird relationship never vibed for me. Also, my 15 year old self was confused that Marty forgave and befriended Powell. It drove me crazy.

And now Luna has become Melanie, telling Blair on her deathbed that she should get back together with Todd and that they love each other. I was already thinking it and then the Luna scene just sealed it. Of course if you don't know anything about GWTW I'm sure what I just said makes no sense. LOL

It surprises me at how many people don't get the similarities in the love/hate relationships between T&B and T&M. People say that T&M's relationship is twisted, but if you understand the characters you see that it's not much different from T&B's. The only real difference is that Todd hurt Marty in a way that neither of them can forgive. In both cases he allowed himself to care and they hurt him, so he hurt them back. The more he loves, the more he hurts (emotionally and vindictively).

@la214la But the truth is she wasn't lying in this scene. Just because someone has lied in the past doesn't mean they always lie. But I understand how incredibly difficult it would be for Todd to forgive how Blair lied to and manipulated him. That being said-later on it was Todd who lied to and manipulated Blair-and she also forgave him. Many times. A tortured love story if there ever was one.

bjujubee, you may laugh at this, but as I've been watching this the Blair and Todd story back then reminds of my favorite movie "Gone With The Wind" Todd and Blair are Rhett and Scarlett when they were married. Using all their money and power against everyone in town who hates them. Cord is Ashley, who Blair thinks she loves because she can't realize that she really loves Todd. (Part 1)

I always loved how Todd made funny of all of Marty's men like they weren't good enough....(can we say strange anyone??) Neither Todd nor Blair really want to split. Its obvious when she leaves that the love is still there on both sides. They'll be back together in a very short period of time. But then splitsville again. It was always hard to be a TnB fan.

I seriously can't be the only one who finds all this extremely bizarre. I believe RH thought so too. This whole bar scene is unsettling. What sort of message were the writers trying to send to young viewers? It is okay to rape someone if they stir some unfathomable emotion in you and despite that despicable act you still care about that person and always be connected in some way? Is not that creepy? I am sure rape victims would want to wash off even the scent of the man off their bodies, let alone their metaphorical and metaphysical presence. ! Yeah Roger is right. Todd is a villain and always will be. A charming one maybe. But this redemption arc is RIDICULOUS.

I agree the rapist and the victim getting together is sick but everyone seemed to love Luke and Laura plus Luke character was a grown man. In the case of Todd I could be more forgiving to him because he was so young and clearly had a lot of rage. I try not to judge people for the rest of their lives for things they have done when are barely adults. Also when its all said and done this is a fictional show with fictional characters. People need to understand the differences between real life and the t.v. world.

Very true someone once said blair was scarlett and todd was heathcliff from wuthering heights. Max in his hey day was Rhett and gabrielle scarlett. Luna was melanie and u never pair melanie with Rhett. Cord was Ashley that's why I think cord and luna would have worked. But in this scenario todd is Rhett blair is scarlett melanie is luna just like her death bed saying scarlett should be with rhett and cord is Ashley.

It's pretty obvious too. The similarities are really clear. Two outsiders who didn't care what the rest of society thought of them. Spending their money and shoving it in everyone's faces. Enjoying being shit stirrers. Todd like Rhett being in love and hoping one day Blair/Scarlett will love him back, meanwhile Scarlett/Blair are hung up on these idealized versions of love with other men, not realizing until it was too late that they loved their husbands. Both had miscarriages, both had a daughter, and Blair's scene with Luna is very much like Scarletts scene with Melanie. For me I can definitely see how Todd and Blair were fashioned after Rhett and Scarlett. I also see how they threw in some Beauty and the beast comparisons. Those comparisons continued all the way up until 2011 when Roger returned and Todd was playing with Hopes beauty and the beast dolls as Blair watches him.

@@friendsforever5012 It is weird and wouldn't happen in real life most likely. But the circumstances were kind of odd here too. They knew one another and had slept together once (Just pointing out that they didn't hate one another before this happened-and were attracted to one another). And more importantly, Todd did a lot afterwards to redeem himself, he did go to jail and he did have rape counseling, which she was a part of. He apologized multiple times in a heartfelt way and I think she accepted his apology because he really meant it. Then he saved her life which she was grateful for, and risked getting caught in doing so. He changed pretty radically. I do believe that does happen as far as people changing sometimes when they've committed terrible acts. The other thing is they were very attracted to one another, even after the r*pe. I think Marty was still afraid of him and was not about to get involved with him in that way but there was an attraction still. That's unrealistic too, but it's probably happened before. Still under the circumstances the writers set out, You could see it happening.

Well other than w/ todd early on than their strange relationship through the 90s was the time susan came to life & everyones story revolved around todd. Blair recast went nowhere til their started slowly putting her & todd together. Martys pairings were all duds suede 2x w/ andrew failed dylan then patrick. Viki was amazing diring d.i.d but her & todd as baby brother lit it up. Erika even said on oltls 30th anniversary where they had certain vast memners say their fave stories erika said " viki & todd thats been my favorite. She is the mother he never had & loves him & he loves her , learns to trust her " thats erika slezak 6x emmy winner. Crazy how intetesting todd & marty could have been & when we got a sliver of what they coupd do w/ a triangle was fiyah todd marty & blair could have been everything. Instead rh left & they tried to slot patrick in the spot & he blew w/ both woman. Sh became his partner & mom.to his kids but no chrmistry. Same as kdp & jdp married & had a baby but oh so boring sleazy & forced. Blair went back to the ooze paoring her & max from.97 to 00 & in 01 w/ him.also beimg as dumb as todd not seeing for a 4 month pregnant woman by 6 months zero belly yet made sense it was todds after 2 months. They just made todd an idiot not to say hey i slept e/ blair u protected obviously as those 2 seemed to never use protection until afyer jack i assume they started to again as they were married i know they only showed one morning after but im sure they were a healthy couple gaving sex a few times a week. @@nattyps3160 Todd was always obsessive about the women in his life. He certainly was obsessed with Marty, Tea and Blair. (Rebecca I barely watched.) Carly not so much. He was obsessed with Blair for years with Blair as almost his only sexual partner. Just Tea twice on the island and Carly a couple of times. The rape was incredibly self defeating. Not only did he compromise his very freedom when he raped Marty but he also sabotaged any love relationship with her. Todd is truly an expert at self sabotage.
