Also highly recommend the Art of McFarlane book, there's a ton of early stuff in there and you can really see he didn't have a lot of natural talent but his absolute tenacity and knowing his strengths and weaknesses helped him enormously.

Boy, I tell ya.... I went back and filled in my ASM and X-Men books a couple years ago from mid 60s to late 90s. About 90% completed on both, minus some super expensive issues. If there was an artist that could pull me back in it would be McFarland drawing Spidey again.

18:05 Larsen's talking about the old Prismacolor colored pencils. They do have a waxy finish and it DOES cause problems with inking. Col-erase pencils don't have the waxy finish to them.
