Thank you so much. I got so much from this. For the first time ever, the hegelian identity of substance and subject makes sense to me now. Gonna listen it again and make some notes.

@@telosbound I haven't red McGowan yet, although i am going to. I'we been getting the impression that EAH is a good place to start unwrapping zizek, lacan, and ultimately, hegel. Mcgowan seems accessible to someone who's not native to english.

The comparison with love appears in Hegel himself. It is in his youth texts. It is exactly as McGowan describes it. So, we might suppose he got it directly from there and forgot or got it indirectly and maybe is unaware. As happened with Heraclitus, hate but more intensely, love, have a lot to do with Hegel's ontology.

Dark Deleuze + Heraclitus + Proclean trigonometry ontology = Ur-Hegel before Hegel. Sounds good.

But Hegel doesn’t “work through” formal logic; he rejects it outright.

Law of identity is: A is A, not A = A... Surprisingly, this is a massive difference.

Depends on what you mean by “is” and “=“.

I think McGowan’s whole philosophy is just embracing Orwellian doublespeak. 😂
