Keep in mind that Todd does not read music and has never studied music theory. Just pure genius! I've been a Todd fan ever since 1973 when I first saw Todd and Utopia at Winterland in SF. After about 35 live Todd shows later I thought I had heard most all of Todd's music, but not this piece. Thank you for uncovering this gem! With Peace and Love to All! (Michael)

Glad that you reacted to this!! I was fortunate to see him on this Individualist tour. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND "Woman's World" from this same album!!! Also, "Want of a Nail", "Parallel Lines", and "Can't Stop Running" from his Nearly Human album. Also, "Change Myself" from 2nd Wind.

and on top of it this songs makes a powerful message that is only too relevant today. We do have a problem with out (wealth) distribution and the balance is way off. Todd speaks and sings the truth.

A musician who released an entire album where every sound you heard was either his voice or handclaps. Not that you could tell on songs such as Something To Fall Back On, which sounds as if it has banks of synthesisers and a choir of backing vocalists. And this was in 1985.

At the Woodstock 2 festival in 1994 (I was there). Todd had his own stage, the Todd Pod, and gave several shows day and night all weekend.

Very cool tune JK! I have only heard this once or twice before but I really like it🎶Todd Rundgren is quite a diverse musician. I always liked the sweet "Hello it's Me". Thanks so much Nick for your reaction!

That was a GROOVE BOMB 💣. It’s now in my playlist. That was really great (epic even 😳). Terrific mix and soundscape, I loved the rap sections interspersed in the sauce. Thank JK. I loved your reaction Nick always fun to watch listen and learn.

This was my first Todd concert in 1995 - but I’ve been a fan since I was a kid in the 70s! I’ve seen him multiple times since then and am planning to see him in Memphis in October. He is a genius and so extremely talented! He’s an amazing guitarist - check out some Utopia when he walks the pyramid! Or check out one of my favorites, “the Last Ride” at his house with Daryl Hall. The guitar solo is incredible! 😊

Thank you, JK...There's a reason in the 70's we said "Todd is God!" Saw him live at Carnegie Hall in 1973...The first half of his show he did solo renditions of the hits and more accessible portions of the current acid-inspired LP at the time, "A Wizard A True Star"...then intermission...Then he came out with the first iteration of Utopia, which actually had been inspired by the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and blew everyone away. Listen to the first Utopia album (the one with the eye and multi-colored spheres) for an idea of what he laid on us. He's been ever-changing and pushing the envelope ever since, even when he has his quasi-commercial periods...This is one rabbit hole that has countless side-tunnels...So much worth hearing from this amazing artist...

This is from one of my favorite Todd albums. One of his albums where he plays and sings everything. Like the way he incorporated rap on this album and track. Hard hitting lyrics and great vibes. The CD also came with videos for each song and one game for a track! TR-i truly was an individualist.

Great track... in parts, vaguely reminiscent of his album 'Healing'. He's got such a distinctive soundscape. Though his style changes and evolves, you always know immediately it's Todd.

Happy beyond words that you’ve doing this song. I very rarely see reactors do anything with Todd from this era. Yes, this definitely rap. On this album and his previous one, No World Order, he adopted the persona of TRI or Todd Rundgren Interactive. NWO was the first ever interactive album ever released on Sony’s unsuccessful interactive music format. Both albums have much rap sprinkled throughout as that was part of this new persona. Unfortunately, the format never took off, but it just goes to show how innovative he is as an artist. He truly is a genius.

Hey Nick, glad you’re doing more Todd. The dude decided early on not to pursue hit songs, and instead follow his muse & his art. He has a great steady following of fans, and if you’re a huge Todd-ite, then you know every song, have every album. Actually, a marathon of his incredible tunes would have been great… but a marathon of great songs he’s produced (from groups like Psych Furs, the Band, XTC, Grand Funk Railroad, etc…) would be great, too!

Steve, if you search for it, you’ll find an old marathon that Nick reacted to called “Todd Rundgren Produced.” XTC, Meat Loaf, The Pursuit of Happiness, Patti Smith, and Jill Sobule.

A chance to do a Todd deep cut, which I bet is unfamiliar to most of your listeners. So glad you were enthusiastic, Nick! Todd doesn’t sell like he used to, but he still continues to try different things and keep up with the times. This is one of two albums he did that were “interactive” - they were available on CD-ROM, which allowed the listener to do their own mix on their computer! Now that technology may be dated, but in the mid 90’s it was mind-blowing!

Todd is one of those artists (like bowie) who may go in directions that i don’t particularly love, but i love them for doing it. One of the greatest, most underrated artists of our time. Thisvisca deep cut for sure…great choice, but i would argue that most of his work could be considered deep cuts as he didn’t have a whole lot of hits. I hope you will continue to dig into his incredible body of work

I listened to Todd's The Individualist CD in the past, as a library borrow, because it was a hybrid CD that had music videos for playing on the computer. Nice album concept. Never got a chance to really get into the music, though. And the computer format portion of the CD might have become incompatible over time. The original disc might still play as a CD, though. I was more interested in Second Wind from Todd's latter career, recorded around 1990 in San Francisco as they were rebuilding from the earthquake, inside a theatre that allowed fans to attend the live recording studio as a concert over the course of the album sessions. "Change Myself" is a strong opener for any Todd album, and a great song.

Hi NicknLex, I have been a fan of Todd since I was 15yrs old, and now I sit here at 65 yrs of age enjoying your reaction to the creative genius that is Todd Rundgren. I have been from a very young age, a lover of music. All kinds. I really appreciate and enjoy your streams, and reactions, because it's obvious that you both are true lovers of music as well. I don't know if you read comments or not, but I thought I would recommend a couple of Todd with Utopia that I know that you both would be into. The 2 tracks are from the Utopia album RA ( 1976 ) A great Album . The first track is the opening track ' Communion With The Sun, ' which follows an excerpt of a track called ' Overture : Mountain Top and Sunrise,' by an artist I have heard you mention by the name of Bernard Herrmann. This leads right into ' Communion With The Sun.' I saw Utopia on the tour for this album at the Glasgow Apollo and they opened with this track. Magnificent. The second track was the opener on side 2 called ' Hiroshima,' an intense track, as you can imagine, but creatively and musically brilliant, a showstopper at the Apollo. Anyone into Yes would like this album, quite 'proggy' great harmonies, all four musicians can sing, and they all are wonderful musicians, a number of the tracks are at least 5 mins. ' Communion With The Sun ' 7 mins 15 secs & ' Hiroshima ' 7 mins 16 secs. Sorry if this comment is a bit lengthy, but I would much rather be specific than vague. You may already be familiar with this album, no harm done, but if not you should check these 2 tracks out. I am very sure that you both would be very impressed. Huge respect & thanks from Glasgow, Scotland. Keep doing what you do. You do it very well. Cheers.
