This was my first concert ever...16 years old, 10 rows back stage right....have gone on to see Todd/Utopia multiple times over the last 37 years, and will see him again tonight! Thank you Todd!

George Proicou George, were Brother John and I with you at this concert? As I recall, they played Vets Memorial two nights in a row that year, and I don't remember which show we were at. This video brings it all back, doesn't it?

Just found this and thanks for posting! We drove up from Cincy for this show and still remember it as one the the best. Loved that Utopia era and tracklist was great. Too bad Vets is gone however saw Todd when he began playing at the Agora several times after this one. FYI, I did notice that the track listed at 41:33 as The Last Ride (reprise) should actually be "Last of the New Wave Riders". Cheers!

+ Bear I saw them on that tour too :P FOX Theatre in St. Louis, MO. Met them outside the backstage door and got to talk with Todd and Kasim for a good 15~20 minutes too. We chatted until their limo driver told them they had to leave so they could catch their flight at Lambert International Airport. Was mostly talking with Todd though because Kasim was too distracted watching all the girls flashing their tits. lol

It’s beyond harmony, it’s chemical destinations they achieve in their musicianship !!!! Alien In nature to the pop culture, more Toltec in grounding of the soul of the listeners…. Rise up in the understirring of soul upon soul upon soul !!!!!! 😅

Thanks for posting this. Another life long Todd fan going back to the mid 70's here. I have a large collection of concert recordings that I hope to polish up a bit and begin posting on YT. I do not however have this recording (not sure how that can be) so again thank you. Does anyone know if this was released as a video (probably a VHS in this time frame)? Thinking back I likely saw this tour in NYC at either the park or the pier. Like many of you have seen too many shows to count over the past almost 50 years...the most recent two weeks ago. Again TY. Also, can always use some advice on the best software to use to post some of my recordings on YT

This was probably the peak time period of Utopia. Good balance of the more accessible song orientated material with the old prog stuff in the set and Adventures was probably their strongest album. Shame Deface the Music killed their commercial momentum completely and they never really recovered from it. But this is just how it happens with Todd...
@usandthemakakelly25352 жыл бұрын
@2003Cpayne have you listened to Todd Rundgren since then? You should.

Great quality, and a fine job editing. One correction: The song you list as "The Last Ride (reprise)" is actually "The Last of the New Wave Riders." (Sorry if this has already been pointed out, but it's probably way down in the comments.

I was at this show and many more and was a huge fan of Todd but never did develop a taste for this boy band iteration of Utopia. They had a few nice tunes but strayed far from the original and the albums that made me a fan. Then he went off the rails with his techno pop BS. I still listen when his new stuff comes out but his last twenty years of releases have been underwhelming. He marches to the beat of a different drummer and doesn’t care what his fans think which is admirable but not everyone who loves rock and roll loves his message.

Every Utopia live performance I have been hearing on here have terribly out of tune vocals. Maybe the instrumental parts were so tough they could not concentrate on their singing.......

I’m a big Utopia fan. But I’m not digging this concert. Todd’s not singing enough. He’s letting the other guys sing. They have OK but not virtuosic voices I like their tight well crafted songs, not these endless prog jams Just my opinion
