I seriously think that Todd's caretaker should go into the cat-toy business, promoting the head of R & D > Todd, with Todd's photo on the tag as earlier suggested by another commenter. To neglect it, is to reject an opportunity that Todd has put into their hands. The toys already developed + an inexpensive toy manufacturer + marketing, most especially focused on the fact that Todd uses the FP buttons, and that communicating through them was how they came to be. They might be wise to see if FP might want to partner on the project, considering that the promotion would aid their business, and considering that they already have a manufacturer and the business know-how.
@Terri_MacKay22 күн бұрын

I would too…. It’s obviously what cats want.. if it’s invented by a cat, you know it’s purrfect. When my cat Chewie Butter was alive, I realized he was kinda bored with his toys. He also liked to play fetch. I was in a store one day and they had a child's fishing rod on clearance for $5. Chewie loved it because I could cast it really far down the hallway and I could put different toys on it. Chewie would go over and put his paw on the fishing rod when he wanted to play. Then I would lay out the different toys so he could pick what he wanted to play with. I can only imagine what things he would have said or asked me if we had had a communication board like you and Todd do. Even without it Chewie figured out ways to let me know what he wanted or needed. He was a super smart boy like your Sweet Todd.

Sounds like he wants various dangly things on the bird toy: a peacock feather, jingle ball, etc. Someone should create a “rod” (like the one on bird toy) that can be used to hold various objects. Sort of like earrings on which you can hang different charms. You could advertise it as “cat invented” toy. I would totally buy something like that-and I don’t even have a cat.

Todd is incredibly intelligent, not to depreciate Feline Intelligence, but you can SEE him thinking, plotting what to say so Dad can make the combo he's imagined for himself. I have a boy who spent his kitten hood studying hydrology. He'd lay on top of his water fountain, try to get up on toilets, still comes to watch us shower, he loves water movement. Yet, give him a toy fish in water, and he wants none of it.

We were given a "Weasel" rolling toy, with a raccoon tail-like doodad on a ball that rolled around erratically. Kitty pretered to bat at the tail when the ball was not I'm motion. When we turned it on, he watched excitedly, but did not try to play with it. Then, my Hubby came home with a little fishing reel a coworker gave him to repair and do whatever with... We pulled off the end of the pole, tied the tail onto the line and would toss it then reel it back, and Kitty went INSANE with joy playing with it, chasing it, gutting the tail, fighting or coming back with the reeling of the line... These "Kids" fishing poles are sold as cat toys, but you can get an actual child learning rod and reel for less cost. Such a rig can have different toys and things connected at the end easily and switched out easier than tying them to the Bird Toy's string, and maybe seek shorter Peacock Feathers to tie to the rod's line for if Todd asks for it. Todd and likely even Paulie will LOVE the rod and reel set up, guaranteed. Seek one with a loop to guide the line on the reel's half of the rod, or you cannot really toss it at all.

I found your channel and subscribed this year, and the toy invention videos were ones that I missed. It's so great to see them now. I wonder if learning to use the buttons has made Todd more creative, and given him the ability to think in a way he couldn't before the buttons. Or, do all cats think like Todd, and are frustrated because they can't express themselves to us??
@cacatr449522 күн бұрын
I think that dogs, cats and horses (animals that are in relationship with people) become frustrated because of inability to communicate with those of us that are unable to read them accurately. It's now easy for me to understand how daft we must be in their eyes, because most of us are. Many of them, including those in the wild, must be convinced that people are dumb (and dangerous, untrustworthy, wicked). Rather than being self-impressed and conceited, we need to humble ourselves. Mankind has *not been smart when it comes to understanding the creatures.

I think they think far more than we know, and about more subjects than we realize. I think we've greatly underestimated their inner lives, and that they have richer, fuller, more insightful and understanding thoughts than we've previously imagined. How old was Todd when he was introduced to the buttons? I have an 8 month old Siamese kitten who is VERY smart. He started playing fetch on his own at 4 months old, likes puzzle toys, and likes to watch Cat TV shows. He frequently has the zoomies. Is he too young to start learning language?
@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks22 күн бұрын
He was 5 years old and has been doing it for two and a half years now. The cat that inspired me to try this was 12 when she started and made it to 70+ words. I know of a cat who started young and was at almost 29 words when she turned 1 year old.
