A very good drummer. Love his style and drumset. Seen him live: excellent.

Underrated how exactly? He's in my top 10 and well known all around the world. I don't understand how people come to the conclusion that a drummer is "underrated."

I think the metal guys (including me) actually like the playing of Todd Sucherman. Secretly, i think more metal guys than not really do prefer grooving over straight machine gun double bass all the time.

Todd definitely has Steve Smith in his playing and I can't see how that can be anything but good. Todd is a brilliant drummer and is one of the reasons Styx is able to continue.

Sucherman is such a great great player very punchy when he has to be and has expression when he plays doesent overplay has the gladstone technique down to the tee and enjoys sharing with pep with a crowd of drummers. Jojo is also a very pep and with sharing technique
@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr28237 жыл бұрын
Taikomaniac drum clinics: hardest and easiest crowds to play for at the same time. Very forgiving, but if you screw up, you're better off just starting over, because they know you messed it up.

Does anyone know what kind of HHX crash he's using above his ride? I'm guessing it's an 18'' HHX-X-plosion crash, but I'm not sure. There's nothing on his gear page on his website about the HHX crash. I'm currently looking for a crash myself, either an AAX or HHX-plosion, and I very much like the sound of the cymbal in this video
@pescalante213 жыл бұрын
does anoyone know what hi-hats he uses? I know they are HHX but what kind and size? they sound so fucking epic, they look like 14" evolutions? am I right?

Not that it's any of our business, but I just wonder how much $'s drummers like Todd, Tris Imboden (Chicago) and Deen Castronovo (Journey) pull down with these more seasoned bands.

Very, very under-rated drummer. In my opinion, another player like Steve Smith, he's not really able to show his true ability playing in Styx. This guy can bust out with the best of them.

I have this on DVD. Were there no women featured or did just none of them "make it" to the video? I mean, the girl playing with Carmine Appice basically kicked his a**...could have asked her, lol. What about Terri Lynn Carrington? Or Cindy Blackwood, is it, with Carlos Sanatana? To say someone should be included just for being female is stupid (even for me) but the video's about 5 hours long, and Carmine phoned it all in, minus the girl he only let play on a beat-up bucket. Had no one known who he was, it would have been just sad. He never should have wasted space in the DVD. Young girls might see this, and think they can't play drums, when every man knows his wife can do 5 things at once a lot more effectively than he can. It's a skill we honed so our children wouldn't get eaten by wildebeests while we made dinner. Should also be a whole special category for singing drummers/multi instrumentalists.
