Even Dr Grande reading how he confronted the mother in a even keeled tone I got psychopath vibes from him. So much so that I immediately thought if I was her father I'd have to take care of this kid (not physically harm him, but find a way to ruin his life). Like I'd probably plant drugs on his car and call in an "anonymous" tip. Even in his mug shot he has those shark eyes where they're just dead.

I wish Meghan had a father that stepped up to have a chat with Brody. My daughter had a date once by a user. I spoke with his father and even his sister sided with my daughter. Although he thought he was a womanizer he later came out of the fruit bin. It was a Sadie Hawkins dance and he had to pay for his shirt and 1/2 of the date. It hurt and embarrassed my daughter. That was 20 years ago. She has such a good husband and 3 red headed daughters ❤️. I only wish Meghan could’ve had a chance to grow up and see what life held for her.

I always get a chuckle when you say that the jury deliberation was short, but then give a time measured in hours. However, that is probably just me, as I remember an episode of the documentary series "Great Crimes and Trials of the Twentieth Century" that examined John Haigh, the acid bath murderer. The jury at John Haigh's trial returned a verdict of guilty after only deliberating for twelve minutes. I also remember reading about Albert Guay, who had his mistress place a bomb on an aircraft that his wife would be flying on, because getting a divorce at the time, in Quebec, required the passage of a private members' bill in the Quebec National Legislature. The jury at Albert Guay's trial deliberated for a mere four minutes, before returning a verdict of guilty.

Dr. Grande has an unreasonable concept of reasonable doubt. He tends to describe cases as weak that would be considered slam dunks in most courtrooms. A reasonable person would conclude that Cody killed Megan based on the blood in the trunk + Cody's ridiculous excuse about the blood coming from a t-shirt stained during period sex. If there was enough liquid blood to seep under the trunk mat, it didn't transfer off a t-shirt. Cody admitted he was driving around the night Megan disappeared so it's not like anyone else could plausibly have used his car to transport Megan's dead body. And there's no plausible way Megan's blood could have gotten in there after Cody sold the car, seeing as she'd been missing and presumed dead for years by that point. Add to that the context of them being in a relationship and planning to run away together and Cody's changing and implausible stories to police and you've got a case that's so strong Cody was foolish to go to trial at all. He should have sought a plea.

Exactly, Megan being found murdered in a shallow grave (not living her best runaway life on Bali or something) combined with her blood in his trunk is pretty damning - add to that all the circumstancial evidence, him changing his story, driving around (while "searching" for her without his phone), also all the text messages, his (more than involvement) in the "runaway" plan, that he admitted being in her mother's house shortly before illegally, seems to have been the last person to see her, and her phone was reset to factory settings - (plus, the way he acted towards the mother and that he had another love interest probably didn't help him, either) - It seems to me to paint a pretty compelling picture 🤔🤨🧐!! Glad they got this 🤬💥💬💩🗯 off the streets!!

I'm not diagnosing anyone in this comment, only speculating. No girl should ever date anyone named "Brodie" without demanding an immediate name change. It must be a legal name change too, not just changing nickname. There can be no trace of "Brodiness" left that may possibly harm others. There is absolutely no level of "Brodiness" that is acceptable. Also, parents should be punished for naming their rugrat "Brodie". I'm not saying jail time, but a stiff fine and probation is certainly appropriate for any parents that intentionally "Brodifies" a child. It's disgusting and needs to be stopped.

I think that was how he told her things were going to go in order to have an alibi for her disappearance. It put the police and prosecution in a bind because it cast doubt. I also wonder if she was pregnant and that's why she was sick. I suspect he thought he could claim she ran away and that would allow him to neatly clean up the problem and pretend to know nothing about it. She was probably thinking they would finally be together but it was all a ruse to kill her and make her disappear. Sad but this happens a lot.

@@AnaLucia-wy2ii Yes but the body wasn't found for three years and it could have been in the first few weeks of pregnancy. She obviously wasn't showing, or showing signs like Heather Elvis was, so it would likely have been earlier of this theory is correct. There has to have been a trigger for these events and I suspect that this might have been it. Or maybe she told him she thought she was. Either way it is often the case in these situations. See the case about the teenage girl from the UK that was murdered by her older boyfriend like this. She told him she was pregnant and he recognized he was about to get in trouble so he killed her. It turned out she was making it up or wrong about the pregnancy. Her body was found almost immediately though. This case took three whole years to locate the remains and anything that was left would have been skeletal remains. It takes a while for a fetus to reach the stage where it would leave that kind of traces.

Unless both of them go missing at the same time which looks like one probably murdered the other and fled. I can't remember which true crime story it was, but that one was one of the most memorable "plot twists". After a couple was reported missing, the police found a woman dead in a forest next to an abandoned camp site and her husband was nowhere to be found. The police assumed it was the husband because they couldn't find any sign of him and I think they had reported sighting of him in far away places or something. After years of this someone finally found his remains a few miles or something from the campsite deeper in the woods. I can't remember how but it was obvious he had been murdered and they just hadn't found the body for years and years. I think he was shot with the same gun in the back or he was tied up or something and the gun wasn't there so it became obvious some serial killer had been operating. I think they linked it to another murder that happened after the couple were killed.

It wasn’t until the FBI took over that the local cops couldn’t drag their feet and cover it up. The first blood sample that had the false positive outcome was tested by the Illinois State Police crime lab, the same Illinois State Police that the perp’s dad worked for.

When I was in the Marines we had a guy UA (unauthorized absence, same as AWOL) and when they called him he was like "I'm so far north you'll never find me". The guys sent to go pick him up and arrest him were telling me this story and we all were laughing and I was like "where is he originally from?" and they said Florida so I said you're going there to look for him right? and of course they did and that's exactly where they found him lol

(14:47) There are many adults who still operate in this way. Feelings & emotionally driven. Everything centered around their emotions/feelings. To the point that they are incapable of logic and reason. Some of them refer to it as, "my truth." There is no such thing as "my truth" or "your truth." There is the truth, and people can have opinions and feelings about the truth. Some people might feel offended by this, even go bonkers.

It made me so angry that no one called to ask me about it. She has been dividing our family for at least 50 yrs and I’m 62. Her sister has very much the same personality, they seem to be stuck in third grade. “If u like them, I can’t talk to u but I will spread lies about u” next week it’s musical chairs if u don’t agree with them…u R IT”. I hated my dad for not putting a stop to it but he finally escaped after dying of stomach cancer when he was 52. He smoked so much and I understood why.

Hi Dr. Grande! I would love to know your thoughts about the Owasso high schoolers death. Well, not necessarily their death. But more so why you think the media has ran with this story? I live there and my husband works for the city. The autopsy is complete and it was an overdose on ‘F’. However, the media seems to be painting it as almost a hate crime of their fight in the bathroom that caused the death. OPD and the coroner have both said there was no trauma and the death is unrelated to the fight but for some reason, that’s not being reported very often. This is the first time I’ve been close to one of these huge media stories and I’m… perplexed by the media. Not sure if this is something you’d talk about or not! I’m just curious! Thanks 😊

Oh yeah, I've been seeing posts about and the first one I saw was "teenagers death from overdose, not violence" or something like that and then everything I saw after that was like "this was a hate crime!" lol I think that's called wishcasting, when you report the news as you wish it was, not as reality is.

@@Aaron-kj8dv yeah, the family originally put on Facebook that it was an overdose.. but when the story started getting some traction, those comments were deleted. Screenshots are making their rounds here because people think it’s suspicious they were deleted. @@dawnpence3248 but you’re 100% speculating how you want the situation to be and that’s the problem. You can’t put a story to an overdose and make it a fact. They had a history of substance use and is the only one that would be able to tell us why they were using. The part that almost completely disproves your theory.. is her toxicology report and what they overdosed on. They had other drugs in their system, but nothing anywhere close to a lethal amount other than fent. (We know it takes a small amount of it to OD on) Which points to this being an accidental overdose. Most likely, they got ahold of something that was laced with it and didn’t know. It’s tragic either way, but if someone is to be blamed, it needs to be who they got it from.. which is currently being worked on.

Forensic scientists can easily tell the difference between menstrual blood and regular blood from a blood vessel. I wonder if they presented that kind of evidence to the court in order to refute what he said about the t-shirt? 🤗🇲🇽🌵

In an investigation, initially the investigative agency, and later when the case gets to the prosecution, strategic decisions are made. There would be no point in testing the blood to disprove defendant's claim, because it doesn't matter. Menstrual blood on a shirt wouldn't get under a liner, because there's not enough of it. It's irrelevant and doesn't present a reasonable explanation that would need to be disproved. If it was tested, it could seem to a jury that the prosecution thought there was a possibility/reasonable doubt that this occurred and work against them.

I think he intended to murder her and encouraged her in a running away fantasy. But i don't think she was ever intending to run away, so he killed her and staged it by breaking into her room. He used her ATM card. There's no reason why menstrual blood would have squirted under the trunk liner in quantities large enough to be detectable so long after. A girl her age having such a heavy period wiuld likely have diagnosed gynae issues but sex would not be pleasant or comfortable and nobody would willingly engage in very messy, unpleasant and unromantic sex in a car, knowing they'd have to get out likely both covered in it, unless that's their kink. I can't see how it would be romantic or enjoyable. I don't believe it for a moment.

Dr Grande, have you covered Bowen Turner? He’s an entitled SC man who was accused of multiple sexual assaults. His family is well connected and his attorney is a state senator (aka lawyer legislator) who ultimately decides on whether the judge should keep their job. The whole story is sad. His first known victim took her life because she was bullied so badly by everyone from the press, her professors, fellow students and she decided to end her life. When he was out on probation he assaulted another girl and she pressed charges. He then assaulted another girl. He got a sweat heart of a deal and is already back out roaming the streets. I’d really be interested in your thoughts on Bowen Turner. His attorney is good friends with Alex Murdaugh.

Nope. I believe he coerced her to run away under a ruse of him also wanting to run away together. This is similar to another murder of a pregant woman. Her cheating lover told her they will run away together but instead he murdered her and dumped her and unborn baby along with her suitcase in a field. This guy never meant to go with her, he wanted to stay with his other lover and get rid of the other woman. This ruse made it look like the person left on their own accord and draws attention away from the murderous bf/lover.
