I think reaching the top of a part-time career counts towards the part of Barbie's Aspiration if you reach level 3 so you don't have to wait until one of her daughters reaches the top of the business career. And yes, in this legacy challenge, all heirs must be females.

if you make a club (make it invite only) and have all your household members in it you can get them to focus on certain things like fitness, parenting, etc. you can then add bonuses in club perks so you level up certain skills faster! I normally make a household club once my household is over 4 sims because it makes life so much easier!
