Thanks for taking the time to make this; I watched it because I have to admit I still don't understand the value of the new Deadline feature. Maybe if I'd had it from the beginning it would make sense, but since we haven't had it, my TDI workflow doesn't require them. In your example I'd have a top-level task called Wedding Photos to Clients and it's Due Dec 13, and then under that I'd have subtasks like Edit Client Photos for Wedding Job and I'd set it as Due on the 11th and recurring on the 12th as well. I feel like anything I've seen people be happy about the Deadlines feature for, it could easily have been implemented without such a feature with existing features like subtasks, reminders, etc. I appreciate your sharing your impressions of the feature, as I'm trying to figure out what I can actually do with it I've not already been doing with a different feature. lol

You're absolutely welcome. Honestly, I still haven't quite figured out exactly how I'm going to implement using it with my setup/workflow. Lol. However, so far I've come to appreciate the awareness. They've already addressed the filter functionality with deadlines, so now I have a filter that includes them. I like being able see when something is coming up that needs to be done without having to see it in my today view and postponing it. Subtasks are something that I've never been able to find a way that works for me. Out of sight, out of mind is super real with me. But I'm in the middle of testing out your suggestion with a project. I've updated my setup and recorded a new video about it to come out next year. But at the time of recording (and still to this day) haven't figured out where they fit in yet. Once I figure it out or decide, I'm sure I'll make a follow up video. Thanks for commenting and giving me tips. I'd be curious to know if you find a way that they work for you in the future. I'm waiting to see if anyone else makes any videos sharing about them as well.

Thank you so much for making this video. The lack of being able to add a start/scheduled date was the big hangup that was holding me back from switching to Todoist. I mean, I don’t want to be reminded on the date that a bill is due that it's due. I want to be reminded about two weeks in advance. However, I also didn't want that date to appear to be the due date and for the task to be "overdue" if I didn't get to it for a few days. I'm pretty sure now that I'll go with Todoist for 2025, and if I do, I'll use your referral link.

You're welcome. I'm also glad they implemented this. If you do go with Todoist and use my link, I definitely would appreciate it. My link also gets you 2 months for free.

How do I set a recurring deadline? For example my Visa credit card bill is due on the 15th of each month and I want the day recurring on the 5th every month because the period ends on the 4th so the 5th is the earliest I can pay it

That's a great question! I didn't think about checking for recurring deadlines when I hit record. I just checked and it doesn't seem to do recurring dates for deadlines. It's a shame cause your use case is something I could use as well.

I'm using todoist for 10+ yrs and have all 11 cards as a seperate list. I have set 5days prior due date for each card (recurring date rage) never have missed a single payment

I get stressed by just looking how many different favorite filters you have...

🤣 LOL. Yeah, I totally understand it's overkill, but it's what works for me. Over time I've just learned that having more filters with less tasks is what keeps me from feeling less stressed.
