In the long run, the fight and separation is a good thing. It breaks that toxic cycle they've been trapped in and gives them some space to do their own thing and mature.

@@oversight68 I will write this in English as it appears that you prefer expressing yourself in the language. What is your opinion of Pol getting HIV? A message to all the young (and old) alike to use condoms? I felt it was irrelevant and did nothing, except to create drama between Pol and Axel, and it looks like they got together. I still think that Axel was a louse for leaving his previous partner because he was depressed (partner) and Pol was right not to trust him, but I guess his hormones got the better of him.
@oversight682 жыл бұрын
@@multilingual972 I'm from the US and tend to use the translate function in KZbin or the browser depending where I'm reading comments from. My take on the HIV story? It was unnecessary and really little more than a cheap and lazy plot device to mature Pol. Instead of telling stories that develop the character from point A to D, Lozano used an incurable, but chronic illness to jump him to almost fully mature. Lessons? Obviously take measures to protect yourself. HIV is no longer a death sentence, and one can still have a life and be loved. I think Carlos did a good job with the material, but the story was half-baked. Axel is a walking, talking red flag. He is not a good guy. He walked away from his previous partner. He lied to the director and blamed Bolano for his drinking and smoking in the hall. To me, he preys on Pol and will likely walk away when he's finished. Just as he did with his first partner. In nearly every scene it is Axel who is initiating physical contact - a touch, pushing his way into the kisses. The scene after Pol tells him he is ill bothers me. Why is Axel pursuing the hookup? It's creepy as f. Not that there is anything wrong with them having sex, but is THAT the best time to do it? My thought is that Pol settles for Axel. He's in a vulnerable spot early in the second season. He's chased Bruno away. He can't talk to Tania yet. He's not ready to talk to his friends. He's not seeing much of a future for himself in life or love, and here comes Axle who offers a bit of kindness and interest. I think it's natural that Pol latches on to that.

David wasn't happy with his character's treatment in the first season of MSA. Essentially, he wanted a storyline for Bruno in order to continue with the series. Lozano declined because he wanted to explore these other storylines for Pol. Either David decided to walk, or Lozano just made the choice to write Bruno out of the season. To me it was a fatal choice for the series. Doesn't matter who you say the story is about, it doesn't really work unless you have both characters. Axel to me is not a good guy at all. The first red flag was him lying to the director about smoking and drinking in the hall. He blames it on Bolano. Later we find out he walked away from his previous partner. One of the creepier aspects of axle to me is that he's always pushing his way into the physical contact. Touching Pol's hands in the hall, forcing his way into the kisses, and even after Paul admits his illness they have sex one or two scenes later. It's creepy when there's no chemistry or connection between the two characters. I had problems with the first season of MSA, but It still made sense to me. The second season was just a mess that made little sense. So much screen time was wasted on characters that have no relevance to Bruno or Pol.

The only place he kind of satisfied fan expectations is the story Sapere Aude is based on. Even then, he didn't provide any detail how or when they reconnected after the fight. He sure as hell didn't do it in the show. The first season was merely okay. Hated how they treated Bruno, but it makes sense to split them up for a while so they can mature and grow. The toxicity was off the charts, and something needed to happen to break that cycle. Too much wasted screen time on characters who are utterly irrelevant to the overall story. Time that could have been better spent fleshing out the core cast, and giving Bruno an actual storyline. Bluntly, the second season sucked. Really? You can't mature a character through writing? instead, you use the lazy gimmick of an incurable illness to force Pol to mature? Then pair him with an older dude who walked away from a prior relationship because he couldn't deal with it, yet he's more than happy to deal with and jump in the pants of a 20-year-old who just had his world turned upside down because of said incurable disease? This a great romance, a great love story? More or less it's the beginning of Pol's own Nicola relationship. Then we have the absurdity of a philosophy student who seeks truth, somehow manages to equate completion of the debate hall with love? The second season was bad. The only saving grace is showing him on his path to eudaemonia, without Axel, and eventually with Bruno.
