People, there is NO need for comparison. Both did an amazing job. I dont think Tamar's version was meant to replicate Ambers. It felt more like Tamar was asked to sing or interpret the song in her own way NOT necessarily to play "Amber's role" while singing the song. Amber's version was to sing and tell a story, she sang and acted as to how a mother would be because it is her role. (in which she was cast in) which was wonderful. She did it in a musical theater type of way. Tamar's version was a song interpretation in her own way. Yes, like a cover. I dont think the producers wanted Tamar to be "in character" cuz they already did it with Amber. Tamar did the song in an R&B way, and treatment of the video was like a "music video" to differentiate her version. LISTEN to the song (close your eyes) she did fantastic. Amber and Tamar both are extremely talented singers who had their own style to it.

Honestly I love that Tamar and Amber took different routes with this song. Whilst Amber's version feels like it connects more with the Oz concept I think that's because she's generally more theatrical with her singing and it feels more power ballad. I love this version because it goes more RnB and the end product is more chilled and gives off a smooth vibe.
