I’m glad to hear that you improved tremendously. I don’t know if it’s a problem with my work ethic of intelligence. But I’ve taken the TOEFL on three occasions. Each time I didn’t get the score I wanted. I got my reading and listening scores today. R-15, L-17. I got a 23 last time. Truly if the TOEFL was simply an assessment of your language abilities why does it cover stuff that have high correlation with test taking such as multiple choice. Wouldn’t strategy be secondary and the language skills that comes to itself. Perhaps I’m ignorant. I’m sorry for been moody, I just disappointed my parents. But worse of all myself.

@CarrieJi
@CarrieJi 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kendal. Thank you for your comment. On my first mock exam, I was reading the second passage, so I didn't even know the time was out. This was one of the main reasons that I got a 3. Like you said, it's a good strategy to make random guesses if you don't know the answer. I wish I could have known it at that time. I believe reading can be improved in a short time. At the beginning, I practiced on each type of reading questions. Then I practiced on mock exams and pushed myself to finish in time. I kept doing at lease 3-4 reading passages everyday before the test. YES we are able to improve our English from 3-27. Keep confident and keep practicing! Let me know if you have any questions. Hi Amandeep Thank you for your comment! I know how you're feeling now. I got a lower score than you, but I ended up doing well finally. Don't worry! You will be fine! Did you summarize what kinds of questions you got wrong mostly? I highly recommend you to get familiar with each reading problems, like vocabulary questions, summary questions. Then use the strategies that I told you (They are all in my playlist toefl reading) to solve them. After doing this, my score was improved a lot! Then you could start practicing on some mock exams. If you have other questions during the process, feel free to contact me here ^_^

@@ixkauzo5032 First, getting familiar with all reading questions types and the strategies will help you answer questions fast. Then it's about your reading speed. Don't stop if you encounter words that you don't know. You can guess the meanings from the context. Try to skim and grab keywords from each sentences to get information. You can use a pen to guide yourself. The more that you practice, the faster your reading speed you will be. I try to make a video to explain this. Hope this helps.

@CarrieJi
@CarrieJi 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Satya. Thank you for your comment. I recommend a book called LongMan Preparation Course. It organizes and sorts out the same type of reading questions. Practicing on the same type of questions improves your skills on solving problems. Or you can use ZabanExam or TOEFLBank, but they don't organize questions for you. I don't recommend memorizing vocabulary. Please check out this video for the reason kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6uTeI1raNKGrdU . Hope this helps you. Thank you and good luck!
