Roborock S5 S6 Error 10: Check the filter.If wet, use a dry one. If dry, clean it and try again. On your app, it says "Fan speed lowered due to blocked strainer. Clean strainer to resume". But no matter how you clean, the error persists. But you can still use your Roborock. For S7 onwards, you may not need to take apart the robot. There is an access opening from the dust container compartment.

This video alone saved me from throwing away a perfectly good vacuum. I had actually bought a maintenance kit and was fuming about the constant error and lack of power. Thanks a lot, the vacuum works perfectly now. It may not be a 5 minute job, but at least we're lucky we can take it apart and fix it ourselves.

after having all the same hassles, i found that using another vacuum cleaner hose to suck the intake air spot solved the problem for me. It only sucked up a small amount of fluff and dust into its clear canister, but that totally solved it. So maybe try that before you pull the machine apart. I did remove the filter and brush first so that they didn't provide resistance when sucking the dust from the air intake spot

Excellent video and as others have said, it saved me from buying a new model. Following your process was easy and there was a lot of dust inside mine (S5), mainly on the outside of the filter on the fan itself, plus some in the mesh filter on the external housing. Thanks for the very helpful video! The point is really that its the air outlet that is stuck (and not the filter). The simplified version that worked in my case: use a dust cleaner spray and blow out the outlet openings (first from outside, later maybe also from inside). Or, if you have a suitable old-style vacuum cleaner, try to suck out the air outlet openings (from inside).

Dust sprayer solution worked for me for a few months but then the issue came back and additional sprays would only resolve for mins at a time. Fingers crossed this comprehensive solution fixes the issue long term. Should know in a bit. *Update - this fixed the problem! Yea no dust sprayer was going to resolve the extent of the build up I had. If anything may it could have pushed through debris and damaged the blower. Thanks for the helpful video!

@@Maria-uw9zg in the above video, time abt 06:55-07:30. Intake and outlet are a kind of a "row of slots" in the outer casing (their form probably varies a bit depending on Roborock model).
@judy2022
@judy2022 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. The problem is the air outlet. I used the 'simplified version' of the fix too. And it worked!! From the INSIDE we positioned an 'old fashioned vacuum cleaner" nozzle toward the air outlets (that are visible once you remove the filter cannister). My husband taped over all the air holes so all the vacuum suction would be focussed on the inside of the air outlet chamber. We turned on the vaccuum and also tapped and shook the vac body a bit around the air outlet hoping to dislodge some more dust to be vacuumed away. So far so good... S5MAXV is fixed. No more error message. And we didn't have to undo all those screws and basically take the whole Roborock apart, which is a daunting challenge. I am very grateful for this thread and for the RR community! I needed the 'whole' conversation and the video to arrive at the right answer. :) Clearly this is a DESIGN FLAW and Roborock needs to make the air outlet compartment accessible and cleanable in future models. Has anyone told them this??!

Thanks for this video. It was really helpful. My error on my Roborock S6 says "The filter may be wet or blocked. Fan speed has been temporarily lowered. It will be automatically restored after the strainer is cleaned." I've had the vacuum for a few years now and do own a dog. I didn't have this issue with my first filter, but on the second OEM one I started seeing the warning. And often! Multiple times a cleaning, if not every few minutes. I contact Roborock support and they wanted me to pay a $75 diagnostic fee. The video was really easy to follow but I recommend putting your screws in separate small cups (containers) at each step to keep them organized. Most of the screws are the same size, but not all. That's comes to my own criticism of the video. The way the vacuum was put back together was a bit different than it was deconstructed so I feared that I was using the wrong screws. Had to jump back and forth in the video but eventually figured it out. I was surprised that the internal filter didn't appear to be all that dirty, although taking apart the vacuum cleaner allowed me to clean in lots of places throughout the process. I think this video helped me resolve my issue, but I'm not entirely sure. After putting the vacuum back together it had some issues determining where it was and I received the same filter blocked warning. I was probably a bit impatient because the Roborock can have issues determining its location under normal conditions but I panicked a bit. I ended up factory resetting the vacuum too. I'm not sure which step resolved my issue or if it was the combination of the two, but I no longer get the error message. Definitely worth the hassle of taking it apart and putting it back together and this video definitely helped me figure it all out. Just take note of which screws are supposed to go where.

How I stopped that error without taking things apart: Executive Summary: I ripped out that fine mesh screen that's behind the foam. I haven't had that error in over three months. I undid a couple screws so I could poke a fingernail file in there and between that and poking at it through the grill, I was able to grab it with tweezers and pull it out. You may be able to rip it out through the grill or maybe just ripping holes it it will be enough. Why does that work? I'm no vacuumologist but I see no reason except for noise reduction for blocking the output. It's air that's leaving the unit. Removing the fine mesh leaves the 'sponge' so I only noticed only a slight increase in volume. Holding my hand at the output, I felt a big difference in airflow. Again, I'm no vacuumologit but that equates to more suction in my mind. WARNING: If you don't like the result, you can't go back because you've probably ripped holes in the mesh in getting it out. I also use a hand vac on the outlet each time but that did not fix it when I only did that.

You mean that whole thing at minute 7? Do you have a picture or a video? Much easier than completely disassembling each time it's clogged. Maybe it's just sound indeed. If you remove anything at the intake, it reduces suction per square inch, but in the exhaust more airflow would only be better I guess.
@allenwhipps1233
@allenwhipps1233 2 жыл бұрын
@@rutgervandeputte4695 I undid a couple screws then thought, no! This is too much. I was able to flex the case enough to get a fingernail file in and rip, rip, rip and snag it and pull it out. I think I could have also just used a knife and shredded it enough through the grill. I've been tempted to use a Dremel and cut the grill out in a way I could set it back in. It's the outlet. What difference does it make? :-) More airflow, indeed! I think that it is a touch louder. but not 747 noticeable. :-)

This is insane. I used a grinder to cut a hole. Do Roombas have the same design flaws? Willing to switch. I've not seen *ANY* video that doesn't require taking the unit apart to clean inaccessible filters. Crazy town.

Yeah. Bad design on S5 & S6. For s7, the opening is just next to fan.

Unfortunately I don’t. But error 104 should be for main brush motor. When you take sort the robot, you would have removed it. How about cleaning that and putting back?

can I leave lidar? or it's necessary to remove it? I guess the main part was to cleanup the motor and its airways + filters

Thanks for the video. Fixed my S6 and would never have figured this out on my own. Just one comment for future videos though, you re-assembled it in a different order to assembling it, which made it a bit more difficult to follow and because of that I ended up with 4 leftover screws 😂 Also, camera angle directly above means hands can block the specific holes you’re putting screws into. Maybe show the screw to the camera and point to the specific hole before putting it in. But in any event, a lifesaver. Definitely a design flaw though!

Hilfreiches Video.

That opening is only available in S7 onwards. There is no such opening for S5 & S6.

Engineer designed this deserves special place in hell. I had to do this twice, once to check if cleaning would help, then put it together, but still time to time "fan error" was stopping the vacuum. Once got new (but not geniue) fan from China it works like charm, except S5 lost it voice after this transplantation.

@@KSToh It blows it into the empty filter box. It doesn't go "into the machine". Compressed air likely works in all instances. The coarse filter that clogs is only present to break up the exhaust airflow. Disassembly is an big waste of time for owners not looking for a hobby.
