@tommarsee63193 ай бұрын
What most people don't know is that the red plunger 14:05 is actually made to plunge the sink since it has a wide mouth for plunging flat surfaces like sinks, showers, bathtubs, water fountains and so on. That's why they don't work as good in toilets as those black ones do. The black plunger has a retractable flap under it that maneuvers further into toilet drains for a deeper plunge.

@Steven Lavimoniere do you have a preference on flange types for installing a new toilet? Solid ABS, ABS with Stainless ring, etc?
@Garth20113 ай бұрын
I can recommend those Glacier Bay toilets because we bought 3 of them for one home that had to all match etc. Went to Home Depot...They had them priced for $99 and they all came with everything needed to install them. Fill valve and flapper already in the tank, a bag of bolts etc. including the wax ring etc. We didn't need to buy anything else to remove the old and replace these new Glacier Bay toilets. I couldn't believe it for the money and figured there was no way they were going to deal with any kind of a #2 flush. Well I'll be, even though they were the "water saver" type, they flushed as good as any older toilet that took 3 gallons. We got the elongated bowls as well so, I can't say they are junk...well past that in value ! Good job Steve...poor renter was putting up with a lot of clusters up until now and sad to say...those heating pipes were there first so the last plumber there was an idiot. You always check to see if you have 10" or 12" minimum clearance from the bolts to the wall or obstructions right? Hats off to the Twist & Set flange idea. They are going to love the added height of the bowl when they sit down.

Steve I had the exact same problem when I went to replace the toilets in two bathrooms, one of the bathrooms had the heating register in back and the lousy Kohler toilet was hitting it. So we had to change one of them to a nice Gerber toilet. I wish I had replaced them both because the Gerber is 100% better.

My first thought was that the heat is melting the wax seal regardless of where it is placed. This would let gas, water and some effluent past as the seal is broken. That baseboard head element should be shortened to just shut of the toilet to stop the heating.

Lazy bums landlords. You would think they would reinvest some of the rental income back into the house to keep up with the times, operation and maintenance. The renter can really do much with that heater, its old, rusty needs taken apart and repainted and the tile floor should get repaired. Some landlords only think about the rental income and to heck with the living conditions they are providing to the renter. NO PRIDE>

It must be a constant feeling of annoyance at the s**t that other 'professionals' do but also a great feeling of great satisfaction doing it right and that the customer has something that is done right and will last. There are a million and one ways to do something but only one way is the right one and you have the experience, knowledge and skill to know which way that right one is!! You keep saying you are semi retired; when you retire fully the industry will be left in the hands of the 'experts' who don't know how to do it right. You can never retire ............. 😃
