Back in the dark ages, when stamps were all rubber, we used to do something similar with toilet paper and water with a bit of liquid laundry starch added. Each sheet was put down on the rubber, dampened by spraying with a little of the starch mixture, and tamped down into the design with a stencil brush or something similar. You kept on adding sheets until you had 4-6 pieces treated the same way. It had to dry on the stamp before removing, but the results were just as smashing as the examples you made today. The laundry starch gave them body, too.

We used to pack the tissue into cookie cutters using a brush dipped in VERY diluted glue. Super light-weight Christmas ornaments, I still use them after 40+ years. Now I'll have to make them to put on cards as well.

I love this technique! If you spritz with alcohol instead of water, you get a faster drying time.

Sam if you put it through your laminating machine with copy paper on one side of the toilet paper then cut down all four sides the copy paper will peel off and the toilet paper will not tear. You can then stamp on it, emboss on it, and then glue it on to 🐞 your card base with the shiny side up or the non shiny side up.

I've done this technique, but with watered down glue in the spray bottle. Thanks for reminding me of this technique, I haven't done it ages.

Love this technique. I did it already with toilet paper and embossing folders. Instead of wetting it with plain water, I used my ink sprays and ... boom ... instant coloured and embossed background. It's fascinating every time, especially with the 3D folders. Need to try it with stencils! Thanks a lot! ❤ from Germany, Andrea

Hi Sam🥰🙏🦘🦘 I have used the white second layers of serviettes in embossing folders, lightly sprayed & also plain, thin, white serviettes straight out of the packet. Both work well. Crafting is so much fun! TFS your ideas & techniques. The more options we have, the more variety to create unique card backgrounds etc. Love your videos! 🌹

I've made embellishments using tissue paper, loo paper before now. Using moulds. That works great. Paper mixed with (watered down glue, PVA), but not done the embossing technique you've shown us Sam. So this was an interesting development for me, using kitchen roll to emboss. Its a good job you didn't do this during lock down luv...the stocks of loo paper was bad as it was. You'd have sent us into melt down. 😂 xx

Another "years ago" toilet paper technique- used the Charmin brand TP and water to fill molds. Added them to cards, etc. 😃

I love all of your creations Sam, thank you. I just wanted to tell you that many years ago, we used to water down the PVA and spread it with a brush or dabit on with a sponge. . This made lovely deep impressions and they stayed raised when they dried.. You can also use toilet paper/PVA in silicone molds to make great embellishments for your cards.

Thank you Sam, for the great way to use kitchen & loo paper. I used kitchen paper to do some die cutting, after I’d been paint poring and got lots of the paint on the kitchen paper. The die cuts came out really nice. They had the feel of velvet with a bit of a tie die look about it.
@margaritagerman Жыл бұрын
I used to do this technique then color the result with chalks and a q-tip, the thing you use to clean ear wax out of your ears. It was always lovely. You could also die cut the paper. Not sure why i stopped. Good reminder that the "old" techniques are still good.

Can you explain "ink them"? Do you mean like color them with ink.and a brayer first?
@steviecraftyhands3353 Жыл бұрын
@Dorothy Roush once they are made, you just paint them red with a alcohol ink .then clear embossing powder, let them dry, then I get a little gold gliding wax and lightly go over the emboss details they look great

This technique has been around as long as dirt. I've seen it with many different types of water, glue, watered down glue and sprayed,... and they all work to emboss. Sprays after embossed and dried you may be disappointed with as you lose the embossing. You can ink the embossing folder just as you could with card stock. Just know that both T.P. and kitchen paper towels use bleach to make them white so they are not photo safe.
