I'm always envious of people who can just jump in the shower, wet their hair and towel dry it and it looks neat and straight. If I do that, I end up looking like a woolly sheep! Love your straight locks, but your natural hair is lovely too.

I got my hair permanently straightened in March of this year and it was the best decision i've ever made in my entire life 😂 I have really thick, wavy, dry and frizzy hair. Felt so good to not have to spend an hour everyday just to do my hair, but my roots have grown out about 3 inches now, so I am back to my flat iron again. I plan on getting the treatment yearly 👍

Ok i had the worst frizz, and still do (especially when anything polyester/plastic is near me - straightening dries it out even more and it gets even frizzier...) so I got the straight perm done in Korea and it was all fun and games for 2-3 months until the frizzy “roots” started to grow back. Not being in Asia I couldn’t just get it touched up and from then on the REAL work starts. You know how you can leave your wavy hair air dry and then leave the house (it’s still messy but your whole head’s messy -> it’s a complete messy look, so fine). But imagine two inches being wavy/frizzy and the rest of the hair being flaaaaaat as hell. So you HAVE TO style your hair everyday. E-v-e-r-y-d-a-y. It’s been 1,5 years now and it’s nearly all gone. I’ve been cutting my hair so often just to get it out faster. It was really great and nice to have flat hair but the aftermath is so much work... plus some days you want a bit of curls etc so you use heat on it but after a few times curling the permanently straightened hair, my hair got really damaged. Although I’ve never coloured it. Sorry for the ramble, but if you get it done, make sure you have access to an asian hair salon where you can get touch ups done. And be sure you really like the flat-flat hairstyle.
@Crystal-mk9im6 жыл бұрын
Where do you live? Cuz I don’t live in Korea and Japan but there are people who does perms like that here and it’s such a life saver. (curse my frizzy ass hair) but seriously tho I understand that feeling too, like it’s a bird nest if you don’t fix the top of your head 😭

For anyone with bleached hair, you can get a Brazilian blowdry instead. I went for Japanese hair straightening but was denied it because of my bleached ombre. Had the Brazilian instead, which last about 12 weeks and is semi-permenant but really left my hair in great condition in the long term even after it wore off.

I got a japanese straightening perm in Taiwan and I can agree its the best decision i've ever made!! I have quite curly hair but my main problem was frizziness and the unpredictability of sleeping on wet hair/letting it dry naturally, this is like 6 months later and I am still appreciating the benefits everyday!! Also my hair looks so glossy allllll the time, where as before it seemed straw-like only because of the curliness!!

You look great Emma! This straightening is really common in Malaysia (since at least 14yrs ago) and we call it hair rebonding.. it’s awesome! Begged my mum to allow me to get this hair treatment, and finally at 16yo, she agreed.. I had really thick and frizzy hair and this rebonding worked so well for me! At the start I used hair serum after every wash to ensure the hair ends stay healthy.. Done rebonding twice over the last 12yrs and now my newly grown hair seems straighter than my original/natural hair and so much easier to maintain!
@jasmincastillo86865 жыл бұрын
so interesting to see it done on someone else! I got my hair straightened at the salon for the first time about a year ago. It completely changed my life! I wish I liked my curly hair and i don't mind it too much if it's long enough that it doesn't puff up on me and get unruly, but the amount of time i wear my hair straight outweighs how often i want to wear my hair naturally. So it was worth it to me. Some people tell me to grow it out and stop spending money on treatment but i only do it about 2-3 times per year for $100 every time. and it saves me sooooo much time getting ready. I feel like ive been more eager to go out with friends or to last minute get togethers because im not always worried if my hair is under control. At the end of the day-everyone should wear their hair however they feel comfortable. Straight, curly, long, short. Only you know how much time you have to get ready in the morning, only you can decide what is worth your time and money, you have to live with it at the end of the day-not anyone else. So live life, the way you want to(:

You look great, Emma! At one point I was desperate to do this too (I also straightened my hair almost daily for years). If you decide not to do it again though, may I recommend the curly girl method? It’s for people with wavy, curly, and coily hair. It’s not product based but instead is ingredients based. I recommend CurlyPenny on youtube as a gateway into learning what it is because she’s hilarious. I started it about 2 months ago and haven’t touched my straightener since. I’m embracing my natural curls and I finally feel good about my hair. I’ve been getting a ton of compliments on my “mermaid” hair. haha
@mrahzzz6 жыл бұрын
I was looking for this in the comments - I had no idea Emma had any significant wave in her hair - just as you say, to anyone with any amount of wave or curl dealing with frizz, curly girl method all the way! That means good conditioner (without silicones), moisturizing your hair or providing it with the nutrients it needs (coconut oil is big for protein with many curlies), finding not to heavy, but control-providing gels and cremes, and avoiding causing frizz (handling it properly) throughout the time you're styling it. It's amazing looking at the ingredients of hair products and seeing how often all of them, both within brands and between brands, often have the **same ingredients** or the same major ingredients despite being **advertised** to do certain things (eg, the "volume" shampoo will likely have the same ingredients as the "moisture" shampoo, which will have the same ingredients as the "nutrient +" shampoo...). If you want to try the Curly girl method or find better, different products, I suggest people in the US look in the "natural" hair section (not natural section, natural hair - you'll see brands like Shea Moisture, Miss Jessie's, Cantu, Carol's Daughter, and Yes To - which are all good ones to try out). Walmart and Target have for a year or two now been carrying these great brands

I've also embraced my natural curl lately. I got all the dry ends cut off (I had a LOT from dying and straightening for years) and I'm really liking it so far! :) Just have to wait for it to naturally grow out again. I've had nothing but compliments as well which was so surprising. I used to be tempted to go for a straight perm, but I'll let it be for now and enjoy being a curly girl.

I have hair just like yours. It's very thick and wavy. When you grow it longer the weight of the hair is pulling down the curls. If you were to cut your hair shorter like mine is which is just above my chin then you would have a lot more curl.
