Okay so I don’t know a thing about Gundam, but I have a question. The pilot of the plane that turns into the jet pack? Does he like, stay in it when it’s connected? Like, he just hangs out while the Gundam pilot does his thing?

Hard to say because both the mech and the plane are canonically really just models which get inserted into a VR game terminal and animated via this weird radiation that interacts with Gunpla plastic.
