Todd Baxter, I have had the pleasure of listening to St Pauls Episcopal Cathedral of Buffalo NY. when they toured in UK. They were amazing, a fine performance in Peterborough Cathedral, I was impressed by the quality of diction, they sand with perfectly refined English accent, which I am reliably informed, they speak to each other in, to the consternation of parents.

Dear Toknfan, thanks a lot for the great sound-quality, you are really good!!! The separation of the two choirs is much better to see than at the cd; I don't know why in the last times by recording with more choirs they appear almost together... It's to thank a so incredible sound-quality: many people that upload files in youtube give importance to the images and the audio appears compresed and horrible... In addition that's an example of a well-done thing: Bravo!!!

@bachspirit As a minimum, Cantata 106, the "Actus Tragicus", was also written for a funeral.

Great ! C'est simplement merveilleux. The famous critic, Andi M., wrote, in French : J´ai déja ecoute beaucoup des CDs de TKC mais je trouve que ce CD est le meilleur!!!!

The cd was recorded August 2008 in Benediktbeuern, it appeared October 2010 under the label Capriccio, you can buy it there and in Amazon, Jpc, the shop of the choir at their page... I cannot put the links because they are not published. In my blog you can find reviews of this wonderful cd: toelzerknabenchor.blogspot.com. I recommend it, it's a treasure. At the page of the choir you can also purchase a cd with motets of Johann Sebastian. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for your contribution, Seddius! Sorry, with my screen-reader I cannotselect the option "reply". I supose that you have the Cd "Der Tölzer Knabenchor singt geistliche Chorwerke" (TKC-Cd01). It containts a.o. Britten-Missa Brevis, Antifonae by Giorgi, Cannicciari and Rossini- La Fede, La Speranza and La carità, with Felix palm as soloist. You can order it at the page of the choir. Thanks for your attention.

P.S.: Felix is very simple to recognize because of his particular "s", second part, "durch denselbigen [...]". He is in choir 2 (at least the second that comes at the motet with "Lieber Herr Gott"), and Daniel Krähmer in the other one, right? A pity that I cannot see them! That's the reason why me ears must work double. :-)

@bachspirit J.S. Bach wrote four motets for funerals: BWV 226 - 229. Have a little look in my channel, I've uploaded at least parts of three of these motets.

@tkbewunderin7913 жыл бұрын
Aha, you mean that the motett was performed in Bach's funeral, don't you? Johann Sebastian admired and studied the music of his relatives and he was proud of the Bachs musiciants, he was the first to make a genealogy.

"I’ve enjoyed singing Bach’s works. The CD of the Bach Family Motets has even influenced my preferences in classical music. [...] I remember well the recording of the Bach Family Motets. The rehearsals for it were hard going. Later, we recorded the CD in the Benediktbeuern Church over a week. After school, we travelled there to record for five hours in the cold church [...]". Andreas Mörwald in interview for toelzerknabenchor.blogspot.com. English translation by Fiona Duncan.

Terrible shame that schools in the U.S. do not actively promote such singing in a choir or singing such wonderful masterpieces. Too much acceptance of the "hip hop" or "rap" crap that's mass produced and then emulated by young people. No appreciation for great art or music leads to a deterioration of the very fabric of society itself. This happens when standards are lowered or simply gotten rid of in order to include those who can't meet them.
@wskfan6 жыл бұрын
@ Todd Baxter: There in the US are also existing some well known boys choirs. By the way: In the rule old people only are attending concerts of boys choirs here in Deutschland but that since "countless" years....:)
@jsbrules4 жыл бұрын
It would be very good if schools had more music, including choral singing. But why must you denigrate music you evidently don't like and therefore probably don't listen to and therefore are quite ignorant of? What you call "hip hop or rap crap that's mass produced" Actually, such "crap" is not "mass produced", it is produced by individual people many of whom are extremely creative individuals. And many of the same "young people" who listen to what you call "crap" also sing in church every week -- in yet another musical style. Just like young people did in Bach's day!
@tkbewunderin7913 жыл бұрын
Why do you say that, Bachspirit?
@robertgeoffrey54719 жыл бұрын
Coming form a church musician it sounds peculiar that I find Bach's music so boring albeit clever.
