I watched this video about a month ago and thought "I could do that". I've now gone to 2 fencing practices and realized no, I can't.

Check out all the touches the French got by attacking, getting parried and then stepping in close to remise.

They knew that the Americans prep slot off their parry. It's smart not lucky.

Thats mainly le pechoux's specialty cause he's small and lefty, and I would say luck is a big part considering he only really hit a few of them successfully over the course of many tries if you watch the entire match

Olympic fencing is definitely not for people who don't usually play or watch the sport. When you get to this level there's so many little bits of technique done in fractions of seconds that it just looks incomprehensible to the untrained eye. This is especially the case in sabre fencing because the target area is larger and you can hit with the edge.

Oh my God I was watching the gold medal match for men's saber with my fiance and I kept having to pause to explain the action.

As someone who has no idea how fencing works it looks super funny then wobbling around the swords

why are the swords so......wigely
@moXnoX15 жыл бұрын
they are quite firm actually, but top level fencers are strong and skilled enough to make it bend to get around the blade..
@TheMegaPingasMobile5 жыл бұрын
@@moXnoX1 maybe the heaviest ones are but you an clearly see these blades are bended even when not moving
@moXnoX15 жыл бұрын
@@TheMegaPingasMobile no i do not see bend without move. I have a foil, and newbies usually even cannot fix it even when it stuck bent after hard hit.
@somekid78675 жыл бұрын
its for a specific action that requires a very soft blade, or at least is a lot easy with one. theres also the factor that the blade being super light weight makes it a lot more wigely

If the blades are too stiff, people could get killed.

Nick is good individual but not in 5 point bouts compared to Miles. Miles has a good strategy for 5 points and I feel like he is never nervous in teams and Nick is
