塩船観音寺の代名詞ともいえるお祭りが「#つつじまつり 」です。境内の裏山にはヤマツツジが自生しており、昭和40年につつじ園の構想が計画され、翌年からつつじの植栽が始まりました
早くも昭和42年に第1回つつじまつりが開催され、年々つつじ園の整備は進み、平成22年の開創壱千三百五十年祭で塩船平和観音立像がつつじ園の頂上に落慶し、花の寺観音寺の現在の姿になりました

The first Azalea Festival was held as early as 1967, and the garden has been improved year by year. In 2010, at the 1,350th anniversary of the temple's founding, the Shiofune Peace Kannon standing statue was dedicated at the top of the azalea garden, marking the current appearance of the flower temple
