From what I can ascertain, (spoilers) The MC finally transforms into the curse that she is infected with, and the champion residing, with the full moon, etc, is referencing her. Something is threatening Darkwick, and since MC must stay there, a ghoul must pay a sacrifice to protect the world. Then, the curse will finally be released. This is why Ren says “it’s all because of you.”

You can only save one character, but the character you pick has no impact on the game from what we've seen so far. The one you choose becomes your first SR card, but you get more cards as time goes on.

As far as we know there is no impact on the story. The character you choose is your first sr character. This doesn't matter very much as you'll get more as time goes on, but if you want easier game play it's best to choose someone with a better skill set.

I know Leo has his own issues (this is clear from his behavior with everyone, even Sho), but that doesn't justify the fact that he treats everyone he considers inferior as a burden and a nuisance to be taken care of. What he does is not much different from a bully. He traumatizes people and enjoys it. Everyone has their own value and contribution, even if it's small in the eyes of some. Even if MC was a sack of potatoes with nothing more than the ability to improve stigmas, she would already have her own value. And yet she's trying to do more, to go further. And all Leo did was increase her insecurity, letting her see herself as a burden for many episodes for personal gain. I hate people like that, who only put us down just to feel better about themselves or for the mere pleasure of humiliating and delaying our personal development. I've disliked Leo since the first time he met MC and the way he described Kaito. Until he apologizes for these actions, he will continue to be my most hated character. Actions like this are what lead many people to commit su1c1d3. This character is the embodiment of a sadistic bully, so yes, by common sense he WILL be hated by most until he has a redemption arc or, I don't know, an apology? Just a "sorry" would be enough. Or, from what we can theorize from this beginning of the prologue, an act where he redeems himself by sacrificing himself for those he deems inferior.
