0:37-0:44 It is the SP (Security Police) (警視庁警備部警護課) , like the secret service in the US. It's job is to protect the VIP. They are always(but not all) driving all-black vehicle with hidden lights and a few extra antenna in the back.

Because when people pay attention and respect the emergency services lights, there is no need to make lots of noise to get the drivers attentions.

they're not really responding in most of this compilation, only patrolling so no siren. you can find plenty compilations of them responding though (i know it's 5 years but some of these answers are misleading)

I wonder why Japanese police vehicles do not have blue flashers to go with the red flashers? For that matter they have hardly any flashers.
@mace_inc.84556 жыл бұрын
Japanese law states that red lights denote emergency vehicles. Blue flashing lights are mostly used for security vehicles. However, I've seen some fire command vehicles use steady-burn blue lights at night, and some police escort vehicles use blue steady-burn or flashing lights.

@isakjohansson71344 жыл бұрын
@@dxb8086 No, not necessarily but red is one of the least effective emergency colors, since it blends in with traffic, especially when used on its own, what makes it worse is that they use them when just patrolling diluting their importance and relying increasingly on sound input, sound is not only less effective at making a vehicle noticed but of course doesnt work if the driver is deaf. While i think red only can look nice i would personally at the very least change the lights in the grill to blue and add some amber lighting to the rear. And have some different flash-patterns to signal what the car is doing.
@DD-PG-3 жыл бұрын
@@isakjohansson7134 Note: I am Japanese, and I use machine translation. In Japan, there are some vehicles that use both red and blue lights, but most of them are used for security purposes. The reason why Japanese police and firefighters use only red lights is because they can see better in the rain or fog.
@isakjohansson71343 жыл бұрын
I dont understand why japanese trucks so often use amber marker lights in the rear (usually the top rear). Wouldnt it make a lot more sense if they were red like in the rest of the world?
