Thanks for the shoutout John. You're my fav oldschool KZbin/contentcreator online and happy to see you got such a positive/strong community behind your channel. You make a benchmark for new foreigners to come to Japan and totally immerse themselves in learning as much as possible about the culture as possible. Can't wait to do a collab stream one of these days.

@shinagawa when I have Sam on the show, we can find out 😉 I have a lot of respect for history and for those who have been at this longer than me. Sam is one of the originals, is 100% authentic and I like how I know where I stand with him, no BS. I’m a little more wishy-washy! Haha!! The GoPro video at the sushi shop he did was genius and beautiful. I’ve watched it at least 10 times and it makes me feel happy, seeing a slice of Japanese society in the raw. Anyhow, I do like hanging out and it’ll be a fun stream when we get together ٩( ᐛ )و anything can happen when you’re live!

Hello again from New Jersey (Middletown - exit 114 off the Garden State Parkway)! Loved your live stream of Asakusa....so glad we're staying in that area next April! I absolutely love your content and updates John! My 2 teenage daughters are beyond excited to visit the Shibuya/Akihabara areas since they live and breathe anime! As for my wife and I, we're hoping to catch the tail end of Cherry Blossom season....not sure if it'll be too late on April 15th. Regardless, this will be a bucket list trip for us and we simply can't wait to visit! Much love health and happiness to you and yours!

You’ll be fine :) but just not in Tokyo :) the blossoms travel north and I know on April 18-22, they’re absolutely gorgeous at Hirosaki Park! They don’t bloom until May 10th in Sapporo and end of May in the north of Hokkaido so you can’t always catch them, somewhere, during the season.

I've been to Japan a couple times now, but never went into Asakusa. It always seemed like it would be too busy and crowded for me to handle. I'll have to scope it out next time, provided the crowds don't return to anything like pre-pandemic levels. 😅 On the topic of 7-Eleven here in the States - the new store layouts they have been using are nice! Plus, you can get a freshly-made, good cup of coffee for cheap. The newer stores have machines that will fresh grind beans and brew up a cup on the spot. And they definitely lean harder on private label products now, which is something that 7&I Holdings in Japan does so well. That said, even the newer stores can be iffy with service. That part hasn't improved as much as it should, sadly.
