OMGEEE! What an amazing showcase of street foods at Asakusa! I have many fond memories of Asakusa. Of course, the menchikatsu with that awesome cheese pull would be my first choice! Every single thing that you both chose, looked amazing. For brother Shinichi to say that that karaage was one of THE best he’s ever eaten……WOW! Definitely going onto my very long bucket list! Thank you both so much!!

Great video! Reminds us when we stayed in Asakusa last month. Tokyo has so much to offer! On our next Japan trip; we will explore places we didn’t get to see in Tokyo and explore wherever our tour itinerary takes us. No matter where you go in Japan, there’s always something for everybody.

I love Asakusa! Got to see the Yabusame festival last time i visited, absolutely amazing! Ofc i dressed up in an Ichiban Happi (Bought from the old couple that sells loads of happi, Kimono and Yukata, aparently the old man has owned it his entire life) and sweated my face off, but 100% worth it! Me and my wife spent about 6 days in Asakusa this time and its always just as much fun. I really miss it and always will. Btw just a little note, it's correct to put the accent on the last i in pirozhkI. If you put the accent on O and say it like pirOzhki it makes people think about cute wording for saying horns (rozhki=little horns) : D

Its great! Ive been there many times and i just keep falling deeper and deeper in love with it. Its full of amazing things to see, eat, do and experience. As long as you're polite and try to communicate you cant go wrong with a visit. Id suggest being a bit of a mimic and try to act as the japanese do, some see it as dishonest i just see it as a way to honour their culture, has worked out great for me and my wife :)

I'm based in NZ. The Japanese place in the local SC food court does onigiri but in the same form as a normal sandwhich. That meaning that it has the same dimensions as a sandwich, but the "bread" is rice with an outer layer of seaweed. The filling varies but I prefer the chicken katsu filling (I'm allergic to seafood). Generally Japanese food disappoints overseas as its primarily sushi with the occasional donburi. I'd like to see more of the esoteric dishes such as omraisu.

I wonder if the green tea shop on the right side of the temple if you walk along the shrine is still open, they had good ice green and such. And the ice cream shop in nakamise dori, Saya loved that one because they had so many flavours. Would love to try the dango, as I love dango :) That menchi katsu looks like a bitterbal on the outside. Salted butter on yaki imo! Never thought of that but sounds like a good combination.

Ooh, that onigirazu looks really good and I love ichigo daifuku. I'll try to stop by Tanagocoro when I'm in Asakusa but they don't list their hours. Shinichi, you have said you pronounce some Japanese words differently when speaking English. Is the way you said Asakusa in the video the way Japanese people say it or was that Anglified? It seems some people whisper the u and I don't know which is correct.
