The video is from Shinagawa. The two overlapping melodies are Seseragi (Stream) - this is quite common, especially on Yamanote, and Umi no chikai eki (Station close to the sea) - this is I guess special for Shinagawa. These melodies are departure - they are played as a warning for the passangers to quickly board the train, just before "doa ga shimarimasu, gochuui kudasai" - watch out, the doors are closing! As for Astro Boy, it's a theme song of Takadanobaba.

I think the stations of the Yamanote Line have about 30-40 different tunes; you can hear a particular tune at several stations along the Yamanote-sen. I love them so much, I bought a CD from Amazon Japan that has them all - and I've converted them to ringtones. :) Going back soon, I cannot wait...

Can you tell me the name of the CD please!

Taiyo Basnett hi, Taiyo - I can't remember the name but I could only find the CD on Amazon Japan. I did a search for Yamanote (in Hiragana) and found it that way... but if you do a search online, you can find these tunes in a ZIP file someplace. :)

Taiyo Basnett Hey, Taiyo! Got something even better. Here is a link to a page with a zip file of most of these jingles in mo3 format. This is what I used to create ringtones on my iPhone: www.reddit.com/r/japan/comments/116iv2/jr_east_train_departure_melodiesjingles_ringtones/

I think I can see you filming LOL it does sound like to harmonies converging but they do beautifully like they complement each other Im from NYC where the subs dont feature tunes this beautiful so peaceful sweet and serene I love it If I had to hear that all day long I'd be blissfully happy. We do have performers though through out subs and topside showcasing their talents all over even odd little corners That was a very nice THank You ^_^

Cool! The first thing I noticed when we went to Tokyo for the first time were the little tunes in the Subway stations. There is still one that I hum every now and then. I wish I could find it....I don't remember which train line it was on...

well actually the Yamanote line kinda goes in a square. It goes to every major district in Tokyo pretty much. From Shinjuku to Shibuya from Shibuya to Shimigawa. FRom Shimigawa to Akihabara, from Akihabara to Ueno, Tokyo eki etc etc... It take sno longer than 20 mins to get to where you want to be. Trains are always on time, and only delay due to suicide XD

you now you can update your info. The yamanote line is a circular above ground train run by the JR east company, it is no way a subway as it never goes underground...
