Back in the 60's there was a Japanese minor league baseball team called the Sankei Atoms. They had Tetsuwan Atom (Astro Boy) as their mascot, and his image was on their Jerseys. Seeing the band reminded me of the HS football games my wife and I attended while our daughters were on the school marching band. They'd be in the stands playing every time the home team got a touchdown (which sadly didn't happen that often!).
@kydeanderic9 жыл бұрын
+Kenneth Scharf Yea, good point. The band in the stands really seems like something from a HS or College sports event. -Eric

Wow, they seem serious about their baseball! I used to be a huge baseball fan when I was in high school, but got my heart broken too many times. Plus, football has become way more popular in the States these days, over baseball. I'm not a football fan, so I do miss baseball sometimes. It would be fun to go to a game like that, where I didn't have an emotional attachment really to either team, and I could watch for the fun! I'd need a list of the Fan Rules, though. Seems like it's a bit complicated. I wouldn't want a huge crowd like that mad at me for cheering or doing something else at the wrong time!

+Kyde and Eric Yes, that works. Baseball is not very big in Australia so I have no comparison. In test cricket it's usual to cheer or clap excellent play by either team and booing is unusual except for streakers etc who interrupt play (after all, there are only 5 days' play). I was shocked when I first attended professional basketball which is totally partisan and affected by US practices.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Yakult a drink?
@mop09drg9 жыл бұрын
+SuperUltraRollingBomberThunderCorporation You are correct. Yakult is the name of drink and of the company that sells it. In Japan, the name of baseball team is combine the team's hometown name and the company's name that owns the team and the team's original name. The team in this video is Tokyo-Yakult-Swallows. Another example, Osaka-Hanshin-Tigers. Osaka is the team's hometown. Hanshin is the railway company that owns the team. Tigers is the team's original name.

The local friend who brought me to the game handed me a balloon and I was really confused but you blow it up and release it after singing the fight song I'm guessing. Seriously the most amazing 7th inning stretch show ever. Usually in the States, it's stare at the JumboTron and watch KissCam.
