Noh Performance in the Zen Temple of Houkouji

Within the sacred halls of Houkouji Temple, a crimson creature moves with grace-a mystical being known as Shojo. This legendary spirit, born in the ancient waters of China’s 6,300 km Yangtze River, has an insatiable love for sake. Through the artistry of the Noh actor, the ancient river emerges within the sacred hall. The Shojo dances upon this unseen river, diving deep beneath and rising again, an eternal dance between the realms of the seen and unseen.
