It is believed that J.R.R. Tolkien was inspired by several locations in the UK when he wrote The Lord of the Rings and created The Shire, but the fact is that he spent a lot of time at Stonyhurst College during World War 2 while working on his great work. Many connections were found with the landscape near the college and the places in the novel. You can virtually walk along the Tolkien trail with us, where we could follow Tolkien's footsteps on this 6,5 mile walk.
