Personal experience - Had visited Thimpu and Paro last year on October with saddle bags on. Lovely weather and scenery but AMEN to your statement brother, the people in the office are blunt and rude, had reached during lunch so got a guy from jaigaon who asked for 500 bucks to process my RSTA since i was already late and had to go for immigration and so he did my RSTA. No issues on that part and then left from pheuntsholing at 4.30 p.m. In the office i had a backpack and a helmet and had to go to someone to get a sign and as soon as i politely asked to let me in he was like KEEP YOUR LUGGAGE OUTSIDE in a very very harsh tone. Most people are nice but some are blunt and sound harsh. Rest assured it is a real beautiful country with strict rules but very good road sense and concern for safety. Next time you plan on visiting Bhutan let me know as I got a friend a Bhutanese citizen but a nepali from Kalimpong who recently opened a tour operations. Hope it might help. Prayers for a safe ride back home - Avinand Pradhan, all the way from Kalimpong (India) ... 🙏

In Kakarbhitta Nepal it hardly takes half an hour for permit /bhansal.. for cars I mean and you have to pay a minimum amount in Birtamode which is called Yatayat Department for road tax. It is much more easier on holiday's.. a person is always present outside the office. However it's bit tricky for newcomers to locate the office.. as the small signboard is hanged on a tree by the highway which is hardly visible...after paying the fee just keep on driving...Heteuda.. Narayanghat.. Mugling.. Pokhara..Kusma.. Baglung.. Beni.. Mustang...

So the moral of the story to all our Indian friends visiting Bhutan is to keep your bikes and vehicles at home and take our tourist transport if not public the least. Not only does it contribute to our hospitality industry but also saves and protect environment. I have encountered many a times in road that most Indian drivers and riders are very reckless. Once I was with my dad coming from Paro, one Indian vehicle zoomed in front of us that it almost collided head on. Bikers normally make our surrounding so dirty by not clearing up their rubbish. We welcome you with folded hand but respect our environment and systems.

This had happened with us also. Staying in Bhutan & making passes there is a lots of pain. Fortunately a local helped us at the last moment. But d treatment we got there leaded my gf to never go again there & still I can't convince her to go again.

So disappointed for you not making it through to BHUTAN, i hope they bring better amendments in their tourism policies. Crossing through Phuentsholing is a big headache. 🥴

that's sad news! It takes a lot of preparations and efforts to make such rides and when things end up like this then the "rant" which you showed is not the real one ;) Anway's India has a lot of better places to see, explore. Reminds me of a story called "Angoor khattey hain" :D

I had a similar experience while riding to Bhutan. The immigration office staffs were not rude but the securities were very rude. The locals I met were nice though. May be the guards were getting frustrated with their duties.
