Typical MMA discussion. Gane was the best matchup for Jon 😂. If you go back to how people were talking before that fight, and after it was over, that wasn’t what people were saying. This happens all the time. As soon as Aspinall loses, he was never that good. This sport has the quickest changing narrative. Brendan was just talking about how nobody beats Jon at LHW or HW. This happens time and time again. As soon as Jon comes out and beats stipe, everyone will be saying IDK who wins that fight. Just a fact!

Imagine if Tom came out and called Jon Jones the fake or paper heavyweight champ - paperweight champ. The only heavyweight Jones beat was the guy that’s been running scared from him and Curtis and he just beat Curtis in a minute. What’s Jon gonna do to him? He tore out his shoulder in a practice takedown against Curtis. Every interview Tom should say he’s the real champ, and Jon’s fighting Stipe for the HBT - has-been title. If he wants to claim any relevance he needs to fight the real current champ

Ok Schaub, Tom Aspinall needs to stop being a company man. How did that work out for you? Regardless Tom hasn't been in the UFC that long, but has beaten the best at heavy weight so far. Jones is obviously ducking him because he knows he's going to the Shadow Realm when he is unable to take Tom down or compromise him with his striking. Tom is clearly the stronger, more elusive and athletic fighter. But to give advice to anyone about how to manage their fight career in the UFC is quite ridiculous. Your career was littered with K.O's and Subs against not you dominating anyone. You were so punch drunk that even when one of your best friends tried to convince you that you should retire, so you could avoid any further damage. Even then you were still not seeing the big picture. We all know what happens when you push back against Dana White, it's never good. Tom will get his unification bout until then he is the HW Champ. He's fought 8 times since 2020 and Jones fought once or twice, Stipe has only fought once. Its clear who is the big dog in the yard. Aspinall just TKO'd Blades, before that he K.O'd Paplovich who K.O'd Blades just 3 fights ago. Blades is never going to escape his chin issues. He's been compromised to many times and the best he will be is maybe a top 10 or 5 ranked fighter. If you land your best shots on someone and they are still coming but you get clipped by a hook and it drops you then you get pounced on and get pumbled by 15 more unanswered shots. I'm sorry but the belt is probably not in your future.

Schaub is right. I’ve always judged Dana as somebody who has making money his top priority and Jon v Stipe is not the fight to do that but Dana is seemingly very loyal to Jon. Talking about Stipe feels like talking about a past legend like BJ Penn or Dan Severn and Jons not much better. Tom will probably dominate this current era as much as any heavyweight can dominate but it’s an era with almost no interesting competition. He’s naturally too big to get down to 205 and apart from Pereira no other 205 would be willing to move up. His best hope of having a decent legacy is if the UFC resign Francis and they end up having a crazy trilogy.
