Shanahan is not a genius. He continues to make the same mistakes over and over. He's arrogant. Now, people will tolerate arrogance if it correlates with SB wins. But when his arrogance and refusal to revisit his strategy causes failed season after failed season, it becomes a source of anger from the fanbase. If losing 4 quarterbacks in one season wasn't going to get Shanahan to rethink his strategy, nothing will. The O-line will never get better until Shanahan is gone.

One of the most interesting Superbowls that I saw with Brady winning, was that Patriots vs Seahawks super Bowl. LOB was still in their prime, and for that O Line to give Brady enough time to go through his reads to give his playmakers the chance to come back and win, says it all. Also, we have to remember as well that Brady took small pay cuts: enough to pay a little more to a really good tackle, or guard, if it means keeping him upright. I hope Purdy doesn't try to break the bank, and worries more about those rings. While I do not like Brady a ton, I like old school competitiveness he brought with wanting those rings. Most players just worry about the money, even if they never get the title.

The problem isnt as easy as people think it is to address. Like in the beginning "we been asking Kyle to draft Trent Williams Replacement". Who can you draft at pick 30 that can replace Trent Williams in this draft, last draft (didnt have a first rd pick) or ever? People simply want to pick people to simply say we picked someone. The issue isnt the Roster, NO ONE has a perfect Roster, our roster is literally the most loaded amongst the NFL, and we draft well. Look at all the Pro Bowls and All Pros we have on our team. Its impossible to address every glaring issue. with no money and low draft space. We lost the Super Bowl from a bad Punt, a random All Pro level linebacker injured, and a missed extra point + a tired overtime defense. Guys stop expecting perfection.

Can't really can't compare any previous Brady Team to the current SF roster, simply because Brady's offense was more pass happy than the 49ers! I mean, even in 2017 when Brady/Bucs lost to Philly, that year, Brady had 581 pass attempts; whereas last year, Brock had a total of 441...Doesn't common sense say that if you have a pass first team that you need to have a stronger, more physical O-line for the simple fact that you gotta give your QB time to make those throws?

With that being said picking a player in any draft is a roll of dice. We need to trust the process and let our time come. We can’t be K.C. We can’t be the New England we gotta be the 49ers come on man…

I believe Kyle and the 49ers do believe in an O-Line . I believe building one is just harder than it seems. Not knowing there draft board and what moves they tried to make or not make, can lead to a lot of questions about there priorities. I have my own questions I loved Cooper Dejean at 31 then moving up a few spots to get Rosegraten (Tackle). The Draft is a done deal and we have to support the players we drafted. Just remember we drafted 31 for a reason. Stay positive fans.

I've beat the drum for years about needing a better O line. Started back in the Alex Smith years. His line sucked and got him killed. Never got good enough in my mind and for sure, for what ever reason, these guys just don't feel the need to draft hight for them. We got a middle of the road line. And the OL coach, I'm not very enamered with him. McGlinchy was weak, litterally. How did they not ever address that. I just don't get it. We are all pro everywhere and we got lucky with Purdy, he was so good he covered a lot of OL problems.

😂 Agree. Niners have neglected the D-line n O-line in draft for yrs. On defense, they used FAs or trades to fill gaps. While these re-treads may have have some proven ability vs some drafted potential, with unknown pro ability. The team must mesh n build chemistry with players who might not be with team next yr. Will these players go wll out for team. Or protect themselves for next job. Defense fell to #12. The O-line is a weakness, many analysts. It ranked #20-28. But its Kyle's system n Brock's ability to read defense quickly n his mobility helped the O-line from ranking worse. The Chiefs counter in SB, was press coverage. True, Williams is 35, could retire anytime. The center n right side could be upgraded. Crazy, in this yr draft, Niners traded pick to Chiefs, so they could pick an OT. WtF. The Chiefs OTs were flagged for holding a lot during season, but not once in the SB. Kyle's the genius, but how does weakness of the O-line gets upgraded with a WR at 31. Faster WR that can beat press coverage? Nothing against Pearsall. But didn't Brock lead league in passing, per Lombardi stats. But if he doesn't have time, he won't be able to find Pearsall or Cowing. Vish, says O-line rookies takes time translate to pro, both physically n mentally. Niners are in closing SB window. Age n salary cap will make harder to keep core together. Need impacr players now. Re-treads are quick fix, but need to pay up. Niners haven't over spent. But like my wife says, cheap things aren't good n good things aren't cheap. While Drafts are foundation players for the core, get to keep players for 4 yrs before needing to pay up. Hope, it works out. Team can't have best players at every position. Some players have role n are not stars. JWard, DJ, Alz, etc... Niners have let many walk, favoring comp picks, instead of paying up. Cowboys have a good O-line, but their QB doesn't perform under pressure. Last yr UFAs O-line signed players, none are with team this yr. This yr UFAs may be just practice squad material. Is Snead was truthful, no real competition. Assume coaches have preferences or prejudices or reason for keeping players. (Draft status, salary cap, etc..) Kyle /Niners favor vets, hard for newbies to make 53. Last yr UFA CB Jamieson look promising, could cover slot n return punts/kicks. Numbers game. He was cut. Niners kept CB Oliver vet, but he prove later, couldn't cover slot. Was release after season with his DC. Rebuilding team takes chances with rookues. Vet teams don't take as many chances. Kyle or O-line coach said before, UFA or FA Draft pick has to be as good or better ghsn what they have. How can they tell? Draft is a crap shoot. Remember the Trey pick? College talent or potential does always translate to pros. Its why there are draft bust every yr. Look at QBs in Trey's class. Wilson, Fields, Jones. None have had much success n all are with new teams. Everyone makes mistakes in draft n trades. Bears have draftdd 6 or 7 QBs in first rd. Fans get enamored over players. Niners treat as business. Can't keep everyone, players need to be let go before too old or unable to play or role can be fill cheaper. Manage the salary cap, don't over pay. Some hits n misses. Let camp battles begin.

Every competent coach knows that your team is built at the line. This is especially true for the offense. Missing both JPJ and Zack Frazier for Pearsall will go down as the worst draft decision in 49ers history.

Yeah, so if you don't have Brady or Mahomes, maybe it's time to invest in the o line? 49ers have fantastic skill position players, the best running back in football, and a great schemeing play calling coach. But their offensive line ins the weak cog that could be fixed. That one first round offensive lineman could be the key in winning a super bowl. Not the only thing. But hells bells give it a try...just one time...

I believe at 31 most of the Tackles were of the board as well as the 2 best centers. A OL pick was out, my pick would have been Cooper Dejean CB. Then moving up to get the player they really wanted Rosengarten Tackle. Picked one spot ahead of them at 62.

Lol. How did the offense rank last year? You gotta decide which positions to prioritize in spending. They did and the offense functions at the highest level in the league. What exactly is the criticism? Brock Purdy put up elite numbers behind that oline. And CMC was the offensive player of the year behind that line. The run game is top tier. What exactly is the criticism? You don't get to just spend more money. You have to sacrifice something. What exactly are you suggesting they sacrifice?

A good O-line is fundamental. It's not only common sense, it's verifiable empirically. But Kyle thinks he's the smartest kid in the room.: "Yeah, E=MC squared" but I've developed a better equation." I'm not a personnel guy but I can see that the Niner O-line is not good enough because in high-leverage moments against teams with a strong pass rush they often underperform. Purdy's ability to make quick decisions and his mobility compensate for some of their weaknesses but he can't do it all himself. The irony is that it's not their fault: Kyle is the person who decides resource allocation for this team, not them. A further irony: the one above average skill that line did have in the SB is the above-average ability to run the ball (against KC's relatively vulnerable run D). lSo, naturally, Kyle decides to go try to throw the ball repeatedly down the stretch (and early in the 3rd after the interception) while Purdy has to contend with unblocked pressure. Despite the line's relative weakness in pass protection I think the Niners win the SB if Kyle simply plays to his team's strengths. But he often refuses to do that under pressure.. At a minimum the team needs to upgrade at center. You need someone stronger and nastier than Brendel and someone who can help identify defenses and adjust protection schemes. I don't believe Kyle will change his stripes so an upgrade is needed not simply to match up better with opposing rushers in particular but also to compensate at least somewhat for Kyle's bizarre pay-calling under pressure.
