Tom thought it was a fumble (as did everyone else) but nobody knew about the tuck rule (yea, I watched it). Charles felt Tom had the ball in both hands and he didn't. He was pulling it in and almost had it but it wasn't there yet. The second hand did not touch the ball till Charles hit it out. Now Charles is right that it should have been a fumble but it was the rule and he said himself "I don't care about no rule". By that rule, it was incomplete. Case closed. The way everyone understood it though, it would have been a fumble. That's why the rule was taken out.

No, don’t you know? Brady blackmailed the league to invent a new rule for that particular game and call it against Oakland to jumpstart his path to 7 fraudulent rings! I'm a die hard Raider fan and a season ticket holder at the time and that was an especially tough day for me because I attended my uncles funeral and then the call happened in the game. My perspective of it is that even though it was a bad rule/bad call however you want to frame it, but the Raiders had no business being in Foxboro playing that game in the snow in the middle of January. They were 10-3 after week 14 and 1 game behind Pittsburgh for the number 1 seed in the AFC and lost their last regular season games to end up going into the playoffs as a wild card. Pittsburgh ended up losing to Cincinnati in week 16 and if we won out or at least won 2 out of 3, we're at least a 2 seed and New England has to come to Oakland and the elements don't factor in. That game was always going to be tough to play because of the weather that night and despite being the better team, in my opinion, that evened the playing field so to speak. In a way, the Raiders have themselves to blame for that loss

The NFL decided it was a terrible rule, so they changed it. The current rule reads: Passer Tucks Ball. If the player loses possession of the ball during an attempt to bring it back toward his body, or if the player loses possession after he has tucked the ball into his body, it is a fumble.

Forward motion or not if the qb is not down and loses possession of the ball to the defense it’s s fumble. Similar to a rb or a wr losing possession. Just remove this forward motion thing to make it simple and more competitive for the defense

@@cellmate1I'd say Bledsoe getting injured was a pretty significant moment. So significant that it overshadowed the fact the Tuck Rule was called in favor of the Jets against the Patriots in that very same game.

Stupidest rule in football. You’ve decided not to throw and that means you really are throwing it. How moronic

Lots of stupid rules, this is one of them that makes you turn your head. Like how was this in the rule book? Same thing happened to the patriots that year. Just wasn’t in as big a moment.

Charles is right "I don't care about a rule" ... it was a fumble. But so many catches that have then been knocked loose by defenders and should be also fumbles are then called incomplete passes! All because the rule two steps or football move? Such BS, its all about the spirit of the game IMHO

Overhearing someone call a play isn't cheating. That's just being in the right place at the right time, and paying attention. It's not like he tapped into the other teams headsets.

Mr. Woodson get it over with that play is way way way gone and if by any chance you never learned in the NFL you don’t play expecting referees to make the right call to help you win it is too bad Whether it was a bad called or not your team lost get this right your team lost and get this right your team lost lol 😂 you don’t play the game expecting referees to help you

Bledsoes contract was too big and took up too much cap space. Even if the patriots lost, Patriots would of stuck with Brady

Al Davis said it best - "clear and conclusive evidence to overturn" the call was not there even with the Tuck Rule. There is not a clear enough motion of Brady tucking the ball in to overturn that.

People keep forgetting again and again how many plays had to be made before and after by the Patriots to win that game that basically negate that play. New England select a tie the game and they had to win the game. The Raiders had chances with third and one and fourth and one to put the game away and couldn't get the job done. They did not DESERVE to win.
