@@masonorosco1090 Counter intelligence are basically the guys trained to out-think, predict, track down, and weed out spies. Intelligence in military terms typically refers to espionage, counter intelligence covers everything involving fighting/countering all espionage efforts made by the enemy. Basically it means he's smart and always one step ahead of anyone trying to spy on him.

@@masonorosco1090 these are the guys who spy on the spies, and then feed them false intelligence so the (let’s say Soviets) act on lies and waste resources. Basically they track down and surveil the people who are trained for life how to hide in plain sight. They look for people who hide and then hide from them. They’re ghosts.

He knows how to blend in like your average Joe basically. He mostly observed and said little. That way, he found out more. The fact that someone from counter intelligence is put in as an executive officer on a military base smells like the higher ups wanted details on Jessop. Jessop was about to be appointed director of operations, as XO Markinson,he would have access to all station administration and check that all was in order. In other words, Markinson was under cover, monitoring Jessop,he probably knew every good and bad order he gave. Now Santiago is dead the director of operations job is looking unlikely. Markinson probably went Unauthorized absence, because he felt guilty he couldn't persuade Jessop to discharge Santiago and also he suspected that his cover had been blown.

It's nice to see j.t. walsh as a decent officer. He was such a jerk in good morning vietnam. Hes the realest officer he doesnt want a deal & wants to be punished. He didn't even do anything wrong except doctor the books bc col. Jessup made him.

Disagree entirely. He could have helped those Marines, but he couldn't stand up to Jessup. He literally chose suicide instead of testifying. He wasn't malignant like Jessup or Kendrick were. But he was a coward when he needed to be brave most of all.

@@VNVNation2013 not that simple. He also lived by the Marine Code but also did what his gut told him was right by telling what he knew to the defense attorney. Actually testifying in court was absolutely not an option for him, hence he committed suicide. If he was a gutless coward he would have simple disappeared to Belize or something.

@@jayblanka1551 He was literally right there when he, Jessup, and Kendrick obstructed justice, and he knows that Jessup gave the order. TF you mean he "couldn't testify"? That was literally exactly what he was supposed to do in that situation, "code" or not. He was a coward because he couldn't stand up to Jessup, even to save two Marines who were being charged with murder. He was the literal proof of everything that the defense said. Danny: You can say that again. (Danny gives Luther the money 💵 for the magazine) Luther and Danny: It ain’t over till the fat lady sings. Danny: (to himself) Walked into that one 1️⃣. (Danny gets into his car 🚗 and leaves 🍂; Markinson sits in the back seat 💺 and scares Danny when he sees him in the mirror 🪞) Danny: (gasps in fear 😰) Aah 😱! Jesus Christ!✝️ Markinson: (talking to Danny) You left the door 🚪 unlocked 🔓. Danny: (talking to Markinson) You scared 😱 the s**t out of me! Markinson: Just keep drivin.’ Danny: Are you aware that you’re under subpoena? Markinson: Yes 👍; I’m also aware that the lives of the 2 Marines are in your hands 🙌. If there was something I could do about that, I would. But since I can’t, all I can do is help you, Lieutenant. Danny: What do you know? Markinson: I know everything. Danny: Was it a Code 👨‍💻 Red? Markinson: Yes 👍. Danny: Did Kendrick give the order? Markinson: Yes 👍. Danny: Did you witness it? Markinson: I didn’t need to know- Danny: Did you witness it? Markinson: No 👎. Danny: Then how do you know? Markinson: I know. Danny: Yeah 👍; you know s**t. Markinson: He was never 👎 gonna be transferred off the base. (Danny pulls over and 🛑 stops the car 🚘; 🎭 dramatic music 🎼 playing) Markinson: Jessep was gonna keep him on the base. He said he wanted him 🚆 trained. Danny: You’ve got the transports; it’s got your signature. Markinson: I know. I signed up ⬆️ the morning you arrived in Cuba 🇨🇺 5 days after Santiago died. (Danny takes a couple of seconds) Danny: I’m gonna get you a deal; some kind of immunity with prosecutor. In about 4 days, you’re gonna appear as a witness for defense; and you’re gonna tell the court exactly 👍 what you forming. Right now, I’m gonna check in to a motel 🏨. We’re gonna start from the beginning. Markinson: I don’t want a deal; and I don’t want immunity. I want you to know that I’m proud 🥹 neither what I have done ✔️ nor what I am doing.
