How cruel it was when Tom had trouble at the Olympics and people said awful things like "your dad would be ashamed". He would NEVER be ashamed of his boy, everyone could see how much that man loved his son 😢

Casey H i know. It’s just really shameful for the people being so insensitive. I guess it’s just their insecurities speaking through.

0:14 - 0:38 Oh my gosh, I did not expect to ugly cry there. The way his dad eagerly looks at him and opens his arms wide to hug Tom and his tearful expression says it all. He doesn't hold back at all to express just how overwhelmed with love and pride of his son, even when it's in front of other people. I don't think I've seen love more visible from a parent to their kid. You don't see many fathers show affection the way his did and it's beyond heartwarming to see. Tom was so lucky to have such an incredible dad.

I'm a dad, you are a dad now..... I'm sure I will embarrass the shit out of my beautiful twins one day! RIP your amazing father who did (and is still doing) it all for love. PS it's a shared love, so your mom is a driving force in this too ❤️

my dad died on thanksgiving of metastatic stage 4 colon cancer and this brought some comfort. seeing your father’s last breath is a relief and a pain and the beginning of a deep cycle between cherishing who youve lost and trying to live life in a way that would make them proud without the grief overcoming you. i hope anyone in a similar situation finds peace, solace and healing with time

Very proud of you Tom for achieving your gold medal and I’m sure your dad would be really pleased and over the moon of your achievement. You’ve come a long long way and you keep pushing to meet you goals, a true athlete, well done! Well done for giving people inspiration that they can do better and achieve anything if you keep trying! X

After just losing my dad to cancer as a young woman, it feels comforting that tragic situations like these are so human in the end and that we're all in this together.

I also lost my dad to cancer after my 16th birthday, I found the most comfort online through people who’ve been through similar experiences. Whatever happens after we die I hope the ones we’ve lost are happy and in a better place :)

😥 Feel your pain...I am a Daddy's girl! And he is a prostate cancer survivor even though it has metastasized in his right humerus and can't be removed because his bone is too fragile. My father turns 88 yesterday..may 15. Keep making him proud by just being you...

I 'm so so so sorry. I was talking about my dad the other day, as it has really effected me, more so my daughters disassociation (its not what one thinks). I'll never love anyone more. The wall put up all those years ago was when she was told wrongly he didn't love her. Her brain had to be rewired to connect again. I hope love matters more and is forgiving and matters more than a misunderstanding. Unconditional Love xoxo
