“The only hand I’d slow roll is a chop” Kind hearted gentleman or an artist buttering up his whale?
@canadianbakn19 күн бұрын
I know yours is a bit of a joke but my take is Tom was being 100% genuine. Unless someone is being a real jerk at the table or some extreme circumstances he doesn't slowroll ever, besides messing with people on a chop.

Durr pretended afterwards, he truly trusted Steve when he said he had J 2, but tried to kick him off the hand on account of the kicker. Durr knows when more empathetic people tell the truth. I truly believe Durr is a psychopath. That's why he bet $50k, it wasn't a value bet, it was to kick a J with a low kicker off.

When people tell you the Truth, its a random hand 😂
@Gennosuke198319 күн бұрын
There is no rule, it can be the truth or reverse psychology. Also if the board has a pair, the most common hand people say they have is that card + a deuce, because it's the lowest kicker. It's a normal response, but doesn't mean anything
@canadianbakn19 күн бұрын
Corollary: on a 622 board "I don't have a 2" usually means "I have 66". "I don't have A2" they mean "K2". On a paired board with a possible flush "I don't have a flush" usually means "I have a boat". People (especially recreational players) love to be coy with their wording. As with any assumption at the table I first assume it's true, because it often is, but if I get shown a hand later that disproves that I throw out that assumption. It's right much more than half the time in my experience. Compounded by if people are chatty in a hand they're usually very comfortable because they have the nuts/a very strong hand.
@lukeeasty18 күн бұрын
Not in this spot. Its weird because he wanted a raise and told him he had a strong hand. Thats what got dwan confused, it was brilliant.
@Ekid3315 күн бұрын
I agree with this. More precisely, if someone tells you they have two specific cards, it's profitable to assume they have those cards. They could be bluffing, but in my experience no one balances their "tell my opponent my cards" range XD. In any given river, your opponent might reasonably have one of 10-20 combinations of cards, so if your opponent tells you they have a particular pair of cards (e.g. I have J2s), you can exploit that information by playing as if it's true, even if they're only telling the truth 25% of the time. And yes, you could get leveled, but in my experience, 99+% of the people who do this are recreational players who don't know the meaning of the term 'balanced range'. They play most of their hands silently. Then all of a sudden they tell you they have two cards in some weird river spot; generally, it's for the meme when you call/fold and they turn over the two cards they said they had.
