Absolutely BRILLIANT Video. Learned more in 24 minutes watching this than almost anything else on the Tube. Keep `em coming.

I can relate, went to college with a Conn cornet and never knew what double tongue was or anything about Maynard, Clifford, Miles. No substitute for hard work.

In the end, we are all self taught. I prefer the word "mentor" to "teacher". The idea that you can teach in much the same way as you put gas in your car is simply wrong. The mentor inspires, motivates, suggests, encourages, demonstrates, criticises and so on. The student learns.

I don’t understand the comments about the interviewer. The interview is incredibly illuminating, and the interviewer doesn’t inhibit the content whatsoever. I love these videos! Such a great resource!

At 5:16 he alludes to “being on the bottom teeth.” Never heard this before, would love further elaboration and clarification. Does he mean that the mouthpiece pressure was entirely on his top teeth instead of 50 / 50 top and bottom?

JADickson7 yes. More like 90%on top and only 10%on bottom lip

Will you please tell me the name of the trumpet teacher you were talking about? Was it Gatala, Katala?

Bring back the old interviewer, this guy talks too much, interrupts too much, and stresses things that don't matter. For ex. what books do you use to teach and Tom Hooten says it depends on the student and then he asks what did you play when you were a student.... come on guy...

Furthermore don't add in on what they are saying let them talk!

Sorry you didn’t like the interview! I think we politely disagree with you... however we are always trying to become better interviewers so we will keep your comment in mind. Thanks for watching!

It is not that I did not appreciate the interview. The person doing the interview was just rude and talked way too much and kept interrupting. I love brass chats but please let the artists finish what they are saying. The other two interviewers are much better at this.

I kind of agree, but I also think he did a good job, and kept it fun, light-hearted, and insightful.

Rude interviewer. Kept interrupting him over and over. Very annoying.
