I once saw him on stage, at Teddington studio . I was audience in a tv show and he was compare. He sang a duet with some z list American woman, she made the mistake of trying to out sing him. This is bad manners in the music biz, but Tom just turned up the wick a little at a time. When she ran out of range Tom was just hitting his peak. It was like watching a race car over taking a bicycle. He still is Jones the Voice, the only voice.

I believe this was the very first time that I saw the "incredible" Tom Jones. Heard It's Not Unusual on the radio as a kid, but I never thought that he was white (no offense), let alone Welsh, until he appeared on Ed Sullivan in 1965. Nevertheless, I became hooked on him due to his high octave voice, especially when he would hit the high notes, like an opera singer breaking glass. Magnificent range.
