played this on bass in a cover band in the 90's. got asked a lot if " are you guys from Vermont? " Whatever that means. Was my favorite song to play

That's weird, because Powder Blues is from Vancouver, not Vermont.

It's just that any bar band in northern NY state that played rhythm & blues or anything but top 40, got asked that question. Vermont is where half the Hippies from the 60's landed up

The bass player should play the 8th notes legato. Only the 16th notes should be staccato (and ghosted). Compare with kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqeahJ2MrLqpqaM much better feel.
