It's part of the American culture. There are a LOT of people whose ancestors travelled here from all parts of the world. It doesn't take too much critical thinking to understand that in a society like that, where your ancestors come from might have more significance. It may not be relevant to you, but this was on an American late night show - you weren't exactly the intended audience. Also, not all Americans are white - not really sure what you mean by that.

lol true cop privilege is real. with my disability and my dreads i always get shit... have had a cop pull his gun and cuff me two different times and im seriously the nicest dude ever but i look like someone they hate.... luckily, the first time it happened my neighbor heard my name on his radio and sped to us ( hes a cop who was a cop alongside my grandpa and uncle ) and instead of god knows what would have happened, i was laying face down in cold wet grass cuffed and the cop was hurting me and had us sat by the man who tried to abduct me which is why we called for help! all the sudden WE WERE THE BAD GUYS! my neighbor came and they got in each others faces, he was pissed at the other cop for doing what he did, then my dad came to get us and our neighbor told him what happened, my dad knew the cop who was verbally and physically hurting me, kept tellin me quit acting retarded and thats my trigger school ptsd word lmao... my dad got in his face and was like " I USE TO SELL YOU METH AND LSD IN HIGH SCHOOL AND UR ON UR HIGH HORSE NOW YOU GOT A BADGE, ILL STILL BEAT YOUR ASS " lol * my brother and cousin look like.... umm... did our dad just say he sold meth and lsd in highschool?? " cause the cop kept saying we ditched weed too.... i never seen it before at the time im like why do u think i ditched weed?? ohhh ok long hair? bob marley shirt... ahhh lmao at the time i just loved bob marley cause i loved gospel music and reggae was my fav gospel/churchy/religious music. and dreads were a vow... had em for 2 yrs before i ever associated it with weed. when people made weed jokes or asked if i smoked i was clueless why rotfl. anyways... that time my neighbor saved us from idk a worse night, the 2nt time i just really got lucky, my dreads were tightly in a tam and then under a hair net cause i was going to work at the cannery and got pulled over, the car in bought had the wrong plates and i didnt know, during the stop i guess i made the cop nervous, and with my disability idk to him it looked like i was a guilty, criminal, drug/drunk, stolen car... then " i went for my wallet without warning " NO HE JUST DIDNT UNDERSTAND MY VOICE! I SOUND DEAF.. PEOPLE THINK IM DEAF ALL THE TIME.. lol so i told him my wallet was in my work bag, he said ok.. so i reached over to my bag ( a reusable wal-mart bag ) with my lunch, wallet, water, phone and all the sudden i hear " SHOW ME YOUR FUCKING HANDS " and abunch of screaming, i look and i just see a light in my face and i complied and it just went down hill... i seen the gun and im like oh fuck not again... dragged out, cuffed... thankfully he called my mom and she answered and because the vin # and my insurance info, license all matched, title, ect mom confirmed my disability.... he told her i was lucky, anyone else would have shot me, then he tells me that... and i know my moms home crying alone now lol.. he let me go, took me plates, i asked to drive to work then home he said ok but only to / from and he wouldnt give me his card in case i got pulled over he just said i go to work on my own risk which was weird cause ive had a cop give me their card when i got hit by a drunk driver and instead of towing the car she saved me money letting me drive a tottled car home lol even helped me bend the bumper off the wheel xD i think he just didnt want me having his card and knew i was too shaken up to remember his name or badge probably, they know how it works... i barely fucking remembered my own name when it happened! i gotta think that the only reason he didnt pull the trigger like he said others would was #1 he couldnt see my dreads #2 im light skinned af in the winter.
