As a Canadian as is Tom (originally), we don't even have a first amendment, nor do we have free speech. I do think many Americans take that for granted, and don't understand the real value of that freedom. States rights ... lol what are those. But we don't have that either really. I love my country but I think like Tom also understand the limitations Canada was built on unlike America. America is a special country, the government is the actual problem, not the republic.

For example they passed a bill here, Bill C-16 that could prevent Tom from speaking his opinions on gender in his lyrics as he has freely been able to in the USA. We don't have have the right to do that here by law, rather we have a law that tells us we must not. It's insanity and we don't exactly live in some far off land. If the USA doesn't come together and protect their Charter it will be gone. As we can see it's already being trampled. And that should be a global concern. We aren't necessarily celebrating the history behind the holiday... It's the tradition of coming together and seeing family members while eating a meal prepared by all. Americans gets very few paid holidays compared to other countries so most Americans take advantage of every chance we can get to come together and be thankful to have people we love. A big issue with "compromise" is it's always compromising from the current position (that is already far to one side or the other's advantage) and where the current party wants it. In other words, not a middle of the road from both sides, but a "middle of the road" from the current position, and one side or the other. Take gun control. Splitting the difference would put us at a much more gun-friendly state than the current position. But Left wants "compromise" from the current left-friendly position and what they really want. So instead of a split between Left (heavily regulate all guns and ban any that they deem scary) and the Right (pretty free, let states decide their own rules) the Left screams about "compromise" from the current version of gun control and banning them all... which is not a compromise except between the Left and the far Left. Here's an idea: mandate gun safety training be offered FOR FREE. How is that Constitutional? Well the 2A says that a well regulated militia is necessary for a free society. What's "well regulated" mean in the parlance of those days? It means well functioning, and equipped sufficient to perform its duties. And what is "the militia"? Well according to letters and documents from the Founding Fathers, it's the entire populace of the able-bodied who can serve to defend the country. So. In order to promote a well functioning militia, they need to be able to use their weapons safely and effectively, should they choose to exercise that right. How much safer would we all be if every Middle School and High School taught the 4 Firearms Safety Rules? Always remember Treat, Never, Keep, Keep: 1) Treat every weapon as if it were loaded. 2) Never point a weapon at anything you are not willing to destroy. 3) Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire. 4) Keep your weapon on safe until you intend to fire. Bonus / 5) Know your target and what lies beyond it. So even if you don't intend to use a gun, you know what the proper way to handle one is. And basic marksmanship courses should also be free in High School. We used to have gun clubs in most public schools and kids would bring their rifles, and there wasn't a problem with school shootings. Probably for the same reason mass shootings don't tend to do very well in Texas, at least unless it's a "gun free" zone (why do they always shoot up 'gun-free' zones, I wonder? A real mystery, hmm!).

I'm just watching this for the first time. Listen when it comes to understanding what people are saying about what Thanksgiving is about but not taking it too far. Listen there's no light weight way to address that topic of discussion, just like light and darkness can't coexist. If a person doesn't want to celebrate Thanksgiving then don't every empire in the history of humanity was built by the shedding of blood by conquerors. I'm not going to apologize for being a citizen of The United States Of America because I love my country, and I love Thanksgiving . If we keep stepping back and don't stand up to these so called leaders we're going to wake up one day soon remembering how nice it was when we were free. Remember these people work for us not the other way around. We hire and fire them with our votes, and we pay their salaries with our taxes, and they want to tell us how to keep ourselves safe, but they don't care about you or me. Once there was a marketed movement called The Charitable Transport Company, and they bussed people to safety camps, and this company was led by the Nazi's and they bussed Jewish families to concentration camps. They labeled it as safety and charity but we know how it turned out don't we. Is what's going on right now by our government any different? If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck and walks like a duck it's a duck. It's time to ask ourselves if we're willing to get on those buses for our safety or for us it's wear a mask and take a shot for now, and if you don't you'll lose your right to work and support your family. DOES THAT SOUND LIKE FREEDOM IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

I think in terms of knowing the history like with Thanksgiving it comes down to just killing the past. Not erasing it, but killing it yes this is its origin and it's ok to teach it in your history class, but outside of that I believe we have to let it go and push the more positive meaning it represents now. I feel like to bring about true change and make the world better people have to stop wearing the past on their sleeves, it's like making mistakes in the past (as we all have) if u live in the past focusing on all your shortcomings whether it was something bad u did or just coming up short in work or academics those things can hold u back from achieving a different outcome then what u experienced in your past. Ya know the flag represents each of us and those who have fought to keep our standard flying. I think people have the right to complain and speak out for what they feel strongly about. I also think that it is the wrong venue when you choose to disrespect the flag and our anthem because at the end of the day the flag and anthem represent us, you know “we the people “.
