I completely agree. Just keep in mind that the whole point of libertarianism is to not have a side. It's the shit you just said. Freedom and rights for everybody. That's about it. Even though it is a political party in America that's because politics has a way of ruining all good things and making it into a "side." From what I've seen, to be libertarian is more a way of thinking than a political party. Not trying to be right or wrong here. Just wanting to share with you what I've noticed with my limited experience.

The only thing in the middle of the road is road kill and the one thing that always goes with the flow is a dead fish. You can stand for something or fall for anything. You have a choice. Be like that care free frog in a slowly simmering pot thinking none of this matters if you like. The coming boiling point is growing nearer regardless of your reflections on the matter.

Free to own land? Free to have a business and/or make money? Free to exist unabated by government? You have to pick... If I install pipe as water lines in houses for my job, I am a plumber... even if I don't like the title. If I own a car lot and buy, sell, and trade cars, I am a used car salesman... even if I don't like the title. If I want to kill people on a regular basis, and I do it, I am a murderer... even if I don't like the title. If I go to church, pray to Jesus, and follow the bible, I am a Christian... even if I don't like the title. We are what we are... despite (and in spite of) whether or not we like the word that fits us the best. Just because you want to say, "I don't have to pick a side" doesn't make it true. You can either fight for and believe in freedom, or sit back and let it be taken from you. THAT is what Tom is all about... But why he tries so hard to distance himself from right-leaning politics while 95% of what he says is in-line with the libertarian right is beyond me. I love the way he thinks, and the messages he delivers, but I fear for his soul. He claims "the Lord is my savior" and "I'm not religious, but I walk with Christians," but even Jesus said in the bible "You can be hot or cold, and I wish you were. But because you are lukewarm, you make me want to puke..." And it says if we are ashamed of Him and His words, He will be ashamed of us.

While pastors and preachers are ducking for cover, shielded by sheep they are supposed to cover, this one's on the streets in the face of the devil, loudly proclaiming wake up and recover. My mom, brother, and sister-in-law were all JW for a long time. Until they did the unthinkable and actually listened to those "apostates" and learned all about the cult that is JW. I'd highly suggest that you do the same. Not because I don't want you to have religion. I understand that some people need it, but you really do need to learn about them and the Watchtower Society. It's just as bad as the Catholic church and maybe even worse. And just so you understand what I'm getting at, think about this. The government created the term "conspiracy theorist" as a way of discrediting anybody who wants to blow their cover. The JWs did the same when they began to call anybody who was once part of their cult that found out the truth and got out "apostates". They tell you that listening to these people is basically a sin and you can even be disassociated if they find out you have been listening to these people. THAT is a cult. Do yourself a huge favor and go down the rabbit hole. I guarantee you won't be a witness anymore be the end. It's very bad.

Tom's honesty in this one is so nice to see, if for some reason I found myself in a similar situation being on a talk show (which honestly I hope to never find myself in such a position) I may have been like "sure I will take a look at it" then I may get home and the book/pamphlet would likely sit there collecting dust for a few months/years until perhaps curiosity got the better of me and I took a gander at it. I am not a smart person IQ wise. Still I am in agreement with Dan, regardless of the party, they all have their faults, we all do as matter of fact, not a single one of us isn't blind to some thing or another. None of us know it all, and we honestly do not have all the answers, far too many who act far too wholeheartedly towards one party or the other focus way too much on things that arguably do not matter in the grand scheme of things, and sadly they sometimes act a bit holier than thou, and treat others who cant see the so called "obvious" as essential trash, and it is really annoying too see/watch it unfold. It does not matter what party you talk about each of them have some really bad takes on things, and the fact that each of them often focus on things that make their side look better while ignoring any contradicting information is kind of maddening, social media is really amplifying/making it far too easy to see the worse in people due to the essential cherry picking each side does, it is making it far too easy to judge our fellow beings before we even go up to them. It is almost as if every little ant hill is instantaneously becoming a mountain due to all the articles/amplified moments we see from media/influencers, both the left and the right are absolutely guilty of making both themselves and others look bad. I admittedly haven't ran into much libertarian talk but it might be interesting to seek it out instead of seeing influencers on the right or left converse about subjects, after all both are/have been absolutely exhausting and frustrating to watch, and honestly I rarely if ever make a comment on the videos I do watch from political commentators. As tom said it would be nice to just be left alone, find a deeper connection with someone without all the added drama that comes with a party.

Back in the day (not sure today's teens) most of the younger generation was Libs. I being young at that time thinking like the Libatard I was "moderate" mind you. Anyhow just as the Libs are today running both the house and congress were the Republicans in power with Regan finishing up his 2nd term and Bush Sr. Just winning the house. I was always taught as a kid that the Republicans were for the Rich and they controlled the poor to keep us poor and no matter what we were going to stay that way unless we broke their chain of power. Then came Clinton and the hypocrisy and abuse of power was astonishing. I started doing my own research and found that it doesn't matter what side you prefer. Left or the right or hell right dab in the middle regardless ur damned if u do and damned if u don't. I learned to understand what the trickle down effect was and how it helped the country grow and in the long run helped the poor become a little less poor😏. Then it got to the point where the rich were getting reprieves on their taxes making enough to expand business however growth stopped. Greed took over the American people got tired of it and voted Democrat again and Obama was elected. Well we see how that played out🙄 guess what I'm trying to say is the Democrats are looking real bad right now hell to be honest down right evil. To be true with one's self don't follow a party because u like a person or agree with a cause where I'm getting at is don't follow at all. We don't follow a party we elect the party because what's right now might not be right tomorrow. So when asked if I'm a Republican or Democrat or even independent that's putting a label to a group of systematic opinions u may not even agree with. We are "Americans" we the people need to leave the "left n right" to label one another. After all that's what they get paid to do. I've grown to learn the longer the politician is there the more corrupt they become. The greed and manipulation and mudslinging is the price we pay to back the one we like which in hand is forced to support an entire party. So when the guy said Tom sounded Libertarian and kept pushing it on him made not only Tom feel uncomfortable but myself as well. Let's stop characterizing ourselves into groups separating us from one another even more and break that chain of coarseness and tell the party makers "No we're sick of being labeled as part of a side" and let's take our country back and do this right this time. When the amount of Republicans turned their backs on Trump made me sick to the point that I was no longer going to call myself by a party but to vote as an American that was we can see the snakes on both sides of the yard and not ignore it just because you like one flower on one side of the yard. Remember there's going to be weeds all over not just on the left but the right side as well. Let's Unite and welcome objectivity to keep us always thinking 🤔

Understanding libertarianism requires a paradigm shift. Libertarians are not in the middle of the current paradigm. The proper perspective outlines the scale as total government control on one end and anarchy on the other, anarchy not in the demeaning sense but in its true sense, each man his own sovereign. The established left and right fall on the government control end of the paradigm, they argue over which direction in government control, but it’s still authoritarian. Libertarians reject both the left and right and tend more towards the sovereignty of the individual.

My grandmother is the only 'true' libertarian I've ever met. What I mean by that is she was poor af and never asked anyone for anything. She grew up without indoor plumbing or electricity in rural America and raised her family of 5 children and took care of her physically disabled husband without leaning on government assistance- honestly, I don't even know if any was available back then. She truly believed that people should be allowed to live their lives how they saw fit so long as they didn't infringe on others. Today's Libertarians tend to identify with being self sufficient and believe they have made it where they are based solely on their own efforts. They also seem to typically be well enough off, or at least have a financial safety net (usually constructed of financially stable family members) whether they acknowledge it or not. Most "Libertarians" I have met over the last 35 years talk a great game but run to the Gov't teat or start making demands of others as soon as their situation turns south- whether that be financially, legally, or otherwise.

I think it's awesome how their quite a large hip hop community is now standing up for our freedoms that being taken away. Pity the same is not happening in rock and metal. I say that because of the closing music. I know they are out there, but maybe it is a bit different due to the longer release cycle for albums or the fact that hip hop is a better suited medium for current issues. Libertarian is truly being self accountable, and minding your own Oofing business, and expecting others to do the same. I'm a Constitutionalist Libertarian myself.

Refusing to get involved only means you lack the courage to do so. Lukewarm patriotism is why the Three Percenters exist. During the Revolutionary War, only 3% of the population fought for our independence. Not hard to see why. We want to be left the F alone, too, but you can't sleep when the enemy is burning your house down.

If someone wants to be believable - I mean at least to me and the people I have come in contact with over the past 76 years and know - then they should at least look believable. they should at least look and appear to be one of them so people can relate. This guy looks like a clown. and no matter9 what he wants people to think, they will think what THEY think not what he wants them to. Get on page with the so called normal and make your pitch. 99.99% of the people look at the way this man has made himself look and see him as outside the block. People are not going to put much into his message. Now he has marked himself as a freak and even if something should change his mind, even reform his life or whatever may be the case, he will forever have no followers of any seriousness. EVEN IF HIS CAUSE BECOMES SOMETHING WORTH HIS SPEECH. He made himself marked in a way that he cannot change.

I didn't watch the whole interview but I ASSUME (and I could likely be wrong here) but that the libertarian side wasn't show on both sides of the spectrum, simply put, all extremes can be bad, I love freedom but we need to have SOME law and SOME order, I'd damn near be an anarchist if the world turned to crap lol
