Hearing you have to raise your voice to talk to him reminded me of listening to family talk to my great-grandad. He died when I was pretty young, I wish somebody was doing what you were doing in the 90s so we could hear all his stories. He was born in 1910 and passed in the early 2000s. He cowboyed up north here in Kansas, fought in the second world war, and raised some show Brahmas on the side. Rambling way to say what a great podcast Dale! Keep taking down their stories, future generations will thank you!

Great job! Of course, Tom made it great! I like older men, they don't care to much about saying what's on their mind. Like him poking fun at Boots. Joe Leathers saying about his shoulder is worn out from missing 😂😂😂! Interesting thoughts on the heading and healing deal. However, the way he described that crew and their handling cattle, I can kinda understand his thoughts. I really liked how it wrapped up compared to your initial attempt to wrap it! God Bless!

My Grandfather played polo in Mertzon a lot before he entered WWII. He always said “cowboy” polo is a lot different and the teams from Mexico didn’t much like playing them cause they rode bigger horses and would just plow right over the little Mexican ponies. We ranch North West of Angelo in Coke county. I need to get you to interview my friend George Kidwell who was raised in Paducah and worked on the Pitchfork. He’s close to 80 and has lived a bachelor’s life so no kids and he needs to tell his story.

@@terrillrausch3006 Im from Wisconsin. I offered to work for free, if he'd give me a chance. First question he asked me is do you do drugs son? I said no. Was never planning a career of Texas Cowboy, but I wanted to do it. Tom Moorhouse let me come down and learn & work spring works 1998. Did the whole season. He gave me a chance, the stories I could tell from my 2 or 3 months there are indescribable. Very few people know the people he was talking about. And the places he's talking about in this video but I got to see it. I worked really hard, was a lot to learn. In the end, Tom gave me a check, said ya worked hard and did alright. Invited me to attend church one Sunday with him and his mom, and was invited to Sunday dinner at his mom's house in Benjamin. Sureal is the only description for my whole time there. One time he struck a match and woke me up out of a light sleep @ 3:30am when I was staying at his house 1st night there, and poured me a cup of coffee, To see the light from the match light up his face in the dark was truly remarkable and something an 18-year-old kid will never forget. Thanks Tom.

Hard to find a cook??? Man we just went to the Mexican Vaqueros down the road and found their foreman and asked who's wife could cook and wanted to make some $$$. Wed have 3 wonderful ladies show up and wed explain we don't have that kind of money. They said they just wanted a little extra like 50% more and as long as the meals were prepared good and on time they wanted to be free to do whatever the rest of the time. Hell they did the dishes too so we ended up paying them the full wages for 3...fast forward 10 years they had their own quarters and they sold all sorts of nick knacks for the guys and thru had more money coming into that community than ever and we were happier than ever....match made in heaven if you ask me i mean we all helped each other prosper it was beautiful ❤❤❤

We've been selling direct for a long time. It gets tough because it goes in variables depending on what the government saying, right? You don't even have to think about that 1. Like we didn't think about it back in the day. Because you know you figured your government had your back. But my grandmother always knew that they didn't, but they didn't say anything. And we had enough diversity with trying to sell. Birth to platter before it was like a thing, just go direct. Cause I hated the middle man. I hated seeing these middlemen coming in and making job for themselves and take them all our prophet. The best thing we can do is get rid of all those guys in be direct, but are government. Then want that and so you gotta get creative as always. Like hindsight educational, you can look back and SAIL The Times we kind of cut off the trail and made a new path. Or there's a government trailing. Yeah, you know, always trying to flank you and cut you off.
