Hey guys… I'm gonna be re-uploading some big Millionaire winners who've already been posted to youtube but with (slightly) better quality, and in one video (as opposed to being split up into two or three).

Fun fact: from what I can remember, there have been at least four toms on the primetime version of Millionaire. All four of them did quite well, and two of them reached the million dollar level, Tom O’Brien, and Tom Hoobler. Also, there were three David’s that did very well. David Goodman, David Foreman, and David Rice. There was something about Tom’s and David’s on the show lol

Well while I am a Simpsons nut big Ben is actually my favorite of the 4 European 🇪🇺 landmarks mentioned in Tom's $500,000 question as its Wikipedia article has 2 audio clips 1 on its creation by 1 of the workers and the other is the noise that the ⏰️ clock tower makes every hour

21:26 is one of those “Do I have to?” moments and Regis would say “No.”
@occono35432 ай бұрын
Regis didn't really want to push the guesses but producers forced his hand. TBH I get it, the show has to be entertaining to pay for the prizes. It's only an iota of knife twisting compared to a lot of other game shows. Deal or No Deal for example. Or Greed, a cult classic, but I do wish Greed's fans acknowledged that they may find it more entertaining but it wouldn't be the show they would prefer to go on themselves. I think WWTBAM had some better personalities because it didn't challenge your self respect. (Jeopardy and TPIR and WOF, I'm not talking about here, I mean the rival big money tension shows)

Does GSN still air Syndicated episodes of Millionaire? If so, have you ever thought about writing to them and asking if they could air the episodes of Bob Edgeworth, Rod Martin, Ava Johnson and some $250,000 winners that aren't on here? I'd write to them myself if they still air episodes.

Hey, I knew it! Tom Scott mentions it in one of his videos for Numberphile. I believe it's got something to do with Julius and Augustus Caesar having months named after them, hence we ended up moving things around by 2 months. This would have been super difficult for me to gamble on if I'd been sitting there with half a million, I was 90% sure. I don't think I could have risked it.

When Tom walks backstage, it looks different than it would later on. Here it looks kinda dark, with what looks like bars in the background. A few months later, it's got a background that looks a lot like the one Regis comes out from at the beginning of the show.

Funny how when a player returns on a subsequent show and playing for the 1 million they would ask such a tough question that they would have to walk away. Maybe it’s just w coincidence.
@robbyosborne97085 жыл бұрын
It's a shame that Tom didn't go for the $1,000,000 question, but I can certainly understand why he didn't. You can't just make a total guess on a question like that. You have to be 100% sure with your instinct to even think about taking the risk of losing $468,000. Plus, $500,000 is a huge amount of money.

I would’ve gone for A: March 25 since it’s earlier than the other three multiple choice answers listed on the million dollar question. That being said, $500,000 is good enough for Tommy O’Brien. Now you know that March 25 was a New Year’s Day prior to the American Colonies switching to the old Gregorian Calendar.

If I had the 50:50 for that million dollar question, I would have narrowed it down to A and D.
@TheSpookyKing6 жыл бұрын
before I saw the answer I had guessed it was either A or C, leaning more towards A (the correct answer). D was the one I thought was least likely to be right. I feel like I read about this somewhere a long time ago, and the number 25 was stuck in my head.
@TheSpookyKing6 жыл бұрын
also, in your scenario, if I had used a 50:50 on that question and was left with A and D, I would have most likely gone for A. but hey, I guess I'm just good with calendar and number stuff.

He didn’t know the answer
@pacifist13603 жыл бұрын
Why are you surprised? He didn't know the answer at all and just happened to guess the correct answer. He had a 75% chance of losing $468,000 and only a 25% chance of winning the $1,000,000. Why risk it on a gamble when the stakes are so high? It's not even worth gambling that much money with the 50:50 if you don't know the answer. You can win $500,000 and invest that money. A few years later you'll be a millionaire. With $32,000, it would take you 20 years or more to invest in order to make the $1,000,000. Tom made an absolutely correct decision on not going for it.
