Great tunes today! This was one of Tom's first big hits. Unique in that it is more keyboard than guitar. Tom was an awesome guitar player.

this was the first song from tom & the heartbreakers that i heard long ago in '79 and was instantly smitten ❤️ ran out and bought the 45 (single), played it to death, and ADORED the b-side song, "casa dega", which became one of my most favourite of tom's. the album this is from, DAMN THE TORPEDOES, is their finest in an over-40 year career. highlights: refugee here comes my girl even the losers louisiana rain you tell me this list doesn't even include their many, many earlier gems - my favourite period. i miss you every day, tom ❤️

I'm so glad you checked this out! Another amazing song that was in early hit for him is the song Refugee. It dropped when I was in high school and literally I had my clock radio alarm set to wake me up to go to school and I woke up to Refugee by Tom Petty on the radio and I had never heard it before, and then I realized it had already worked its way into my dreams, lol.

One of those songs that instantly puts a smile on your face. Always wished it was a little longer. This song was featured in a Meryl Streep / Alec Baldwin movie titled "It's Complicated." Played most of the song, too. The movie is funny, btw .

Angela got a double handful of gold today! Bob Seger AND Tom Petty, good going. Now she needs some John Mellencamp to round it off. 😇😁☺️

Produced by Jimmy Iovine. 45 years 🎂. Same year that The Eagles released The Long Run. The Eagles were on the decline while Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers were on the rise. 📈 Don Felder was born and raised in Gainesville. Late Tom Petty followed a few years later. He took some guitar lessons from Felder. Petty left and started his band in the same city. Felder joined The Eagles. In the 1980s, Mike Campbell wrote songs with Eagles member Don Henley. Howie Epstein and John Jorgensen produced an album for Charlene Carter, step daughter of the late Johnny Cash. Suggested videos 📹: 1 Tom Petty sang Face in the Crowd 2 Charlene Carter sings Every Little Thing. 3 Don Henley sings Boys of Summer.
