What a great speaker and classy, intelligent man. He really makes musicians look great. Some other artists today, I won't name names, can really learn from him.

He is such a sweet, articulate, genuine man, with a heartmelting smile and adorable wit too.... I can't stand how cute he is. Why oh why can't he be my age? :)

I love Tom Petty's music. I was raised on it. Massive respect for him in that he had the balls to try to keep his album prices and ticket prices affordable for his fans or whomever wanted to see him and the Heartbreakers play or hear his albums. I'm really saddened by his death but at least we still have the music.

3:19 "It was just too much money to pay for a record, that's what I thought." I like how Tom gave it to them straight. The audience's applause says it all.

When Tom Snyder first referred to the band as 'the Heartbreaks', Tom Petty didn't say a word - anybody else would have corrected Snyder on the spot. It wasn't until the very end of the interview, when Snyder made the same mistake that Tom Petty, very casually, made the correction. That's class.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that most of the rockers from the 60's and 70's, had a hell of a lot more substance than what we had in the 80's/90's. Both musically and intellectually!

He's so awesome I want to be like Tom. His sincerity is refreshing, I admire that so much. (I've got Learning to Fly on in the background as I'm watching this and it goes really well).

I love Tom Snyder for playing dumb and asking great, challenging, and embarrassing, important questions that are clearly for the benefit of parents of the kids who were listening to rock music.

Yes he certainly did. And kept calling Petty "Thomas" all through the interview. Petty had had enough of Snyder calling his backup group "The Heartbreaks" and did correct him, towards the end of the interview segment.

@Dude30977 wrong. When ppl became famous back in the day, the didn't all leave their brains at the door. It was about fighting the system & having something to stand for. Now, too many ppl just want the money!

@cowboysfan782008 i think its just the questions snyder is asking that make him seem that way. and its more what the audience on his show wants to hear probably. hes very smart i think but you only really see it in his music. he knows how people think and the little hang ups and things and how to make great music, you have to be smart for that
