Also, amazing ride by Schelling too, that sole bridge he did was a great move to get to the lead group and he had enough juice to finish in 4th.

Not suprised at all, Wout only did this race because Paris-Roubaix is cancelled (wasn't in his normal planning). To be honest i was suprised he was contesting for the win given he lost his peak form. Btw, I loved Tom's comment where he said that he didn't want to 'make a trend of being up there but not winning'. That's the sign of a natural born winner.

Indeed he lacks the intelligence. When everyone looks at you riding smart is needed to win. Sagan could do this as the best. You wouldn't see him an entire race then suddenly boom. Sagan also had a weak team just as van aert. So smart driving is a must.

I may be missing something, but I don't get the 'all these things add up' idea at 4:23? Presumably the key measure would be energy expended by WvA vs energy expended by Pidcock. Pidcock must have spent loads of energy in his attacks on the climbs, so why is it necessarily more tiring for the guy behind to close the resulting gaps? Based on aerodynamics I would have thought the guy behind is still slightly better off. I suppose it was a case of Pidcock being "on a better day" than WvA, plus maybe tactics in the final sprint. And potentially a case of adding up total time spent in the wind over the full race
